We are arriving in WDW Saturday early afternoon(Hurrah!) and staying 1 night at Art of Animation before our package starts on Sunday (Wilderness Lodge). We aren't planning on going to a park, but considering going to Disney Springs or Boardwalk area for dinner with 2 kids 6 and 9. Any advice on Saturday nights at Disney Springs or Disney Boardwalk area? I am worried with construction at a Disney Springs it will be crowded and confusing.

IMO I would take the kids to the Boardwalk. There are several "street" performers who make balloons/juggle, etc that will entertain you and the kids. Its a great place to take a stroll, there are a good amount of restaurants that are family friendly and there is a great candy/ice shop there as well. Its also MUCH less busy than Disney Springs. Just my 2 cents. Have a great time!!

I'll chime in with the opposite. My family and I went to the Boardwalk one night and it seemed like a lot of the shops were already closed.

Disney Springs is busy, but IMO, there is a lot more to do at DS than the Boardwalk. There are multiple places to eat dinner that your kids would love (T-Rex, Rainforest Cafe, etc), and they have multiple different shows going on.

Both options are good, but I would choose DS over Boardwalk.

Update: Thank you again everyone for your help! We did Disney Springs in the afternoon for about an hour super crowded! We then swam and went to the Boardwalk. It was fabulous! Not crowded and kids loved the street performers.
