Not so much north of the border, thankfully.

uummm... not quite.
(absolute prime time cheer out of canada at cheer worlds which takes place each the last weekend each april) and team canada :)

these aren't the cheerleaders you'll see walking in a pack yelling through the parks. they spend the majority of their time getting ready to compete then watching the big teams compete (fire marshal has frequently closed the arenas for capacity and you don't dare give up your seat once you get one lol).

I went about 3 years ago Feb 27-March 6th, and there were no crowds, no cheerleaders, no tour groups. What have they done to get all this crammed in now? Why? I always thought Nationals were in the late spring, like May. We always had ours right before school go out for the summer, my friend was a cheerleader.

There are a few different cheer organizations that have Nationals. So they have to spread them out if they all want to hit WDW.

When we went to just watch allstar cheer worlds in April 2012 the event hosts and/or disney underestimated how many cheerleaders stay around to watch the other teams compete. I guess they assume everyone will run to the parks after they're off the floor for the day. But that year after the 1st division of the morning (8 am and only 5 teams in the first division) the fire marshal shut the doors to the venue wanting people to clear out & watch on a jumbo tron in another area so other people could enter (at this time you paid for admission and could watch any teams in any of the arenas throughout the day)...but clearing out just wasn't going to happen at worlds. As we're sitting there the mc asked people to leave and delayed the competition hoping the crowd would thin. After about an hour the crowd was tired of waiting and rebelled with the only time I've heard the allstar cheerleaders sounding like the side line cheerleaders most people see in the parks. They started chanting "lets get started" in true cheerleader fashion...very perky, direct, polite, but loud, clear, and not about to back down. The people hosting the event/disney finally came up with leading people in to watch their teams, letting them stand in a pack to one side of the judges podium then taking them directly out the door when their kids teams finished their routines. It wasn't a good situation at all. The venue waaaay to small! I have a quick video of what my daughter laughingly dubbed the "cheerbellion" on my fb page but not sure how to transfer it here lol. They now charge you in separate fees to watch certain groups for finals...ridiculously expensive.

My niece is traveling to a competition in Atlanta today! My sister-in-law booked a late flight ( after school). It's Legacy Cheer, and she's actually quite good at it!;) The group seems to be well behaved, because if they're not held to the certain "standards", they're kicked out of the program! I guess it's just the sheer overwhelming amount of kids everywhere! WDW competition in April! They usually stay off-site. I don't really understnad though why they don't just use the Sports Complex for these competitions? Why take away shows/:confused: stages at the parks?

I'll be quick with this because I know Ive posted this before.

I was 18yrs old
First trip ever to WDW
I was with my much older brother and his family including my 18yr Nephew
It was a 7 day trip in Feb of 2006
High School Cheerleaders started arriving days 3 and 4
Did I mention I was only 18?
Pleasure island was still open
Nephew and I made some new friends
Family forum so i'll just say what I always say, WDW was truly a very magical place the rest of that trip!

For the record, i'm 26 now and I'm sure they would aggravate me just as much as the tour groups do lol.

Next weekend is another big cheer competition in Atlanta. Add to that the Bronner Brothers hair show and the crowds are insane. I think it would rival WDW during New Year's.

It's the sheer numbers...at least in terms of allstar worlds the last weekend of April. They've already maxed out the entire wws complex in both arenas. I know for some competitions they go ahead and move the lower level teams to the raiders of the lost ark stage since they don't have the same degree of tumbling and stunting requirements for them. My daughter never liked having to compete on any outside arenas because the floor can easily become slick so it's not because it's something the teams or coaches want that's for sure...that's all disney and the event company.
