As stated, it is just a chain, not a Disney endeavor. And if the chain continues its policy at Downtown Disney, then it will not be a family place at night, as the other Splitsvilles become 21 and older at 8:00 PM and enforce a dress code.I think that late at night - when the parks close - it would be a great place to go with family and friends. Have a few drinks, bowl, hang out - Disney style. Sounds great to me!
While I do not have as many options, I too can have a similar experience close to home. But I guess I am also different. I do not mind bowling alleys not being all glitz up. I go to a bowling alley to bowl.Upscale bowling isn't anything I can't get in my local area.
There are at least three different chains all offering it.. including a Splitsville!
They are nice - but not the cheap food and entertainment alternative bowling used to be. Bowling used to be about getting some good greasy food, cheap games, cheap beer, and hanging out with your friends.
But new technology is nice for kids.. like per bowler gutter guards that go up and down with each bowler. Animated score boards... automatic scoring.. and basically 'cosmic bowling' all the time. But instead of things like a dollar a game, $3 for shoes... you drop like $50 for two people to bowl.
I am looking forward to it, will be a nice way to pass some evenings after the parks. No different to going to the miniature golf locations.
This. I could see the bowling alley becoming a nice "recreational offering," like the mini-golf courses, that would be fun for someone with a few hours to spare and looking for an alternative to the parks. Hopefully, we'll have time to stop by.

I am looking forward to it. I am by no means an avid bowler but I do enjoy to throwing a ball at some pins with the family from time to time. The bowling alleys we have in J-ville are fair at best and Splitsville looks like it will be a huge upgrade to what we have locally.
