Or is the next "Disney Decade" right around the corner starting in 2010?

"Disney Decade" is a term that was coined by Michael Eisner to sum up what the company was planning on doing in the parks and on screen throughout the 1990's...

We had such hits on screen such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

In the parks we had the start of Disney MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom, as well as updates with rides at Epcot and surrounding parks.

So what say you???

I'd say that you can go from .... EE forward and call that a Disney Decade. Remember that he didn't announce the first one until ... 1992ish.

The rebound from the tourism downswing should usher in a lot of growth at the parks. On screen has been much better than it was in the late 90s, especially live action wise.

Hey...every decade, from the 1970's on, is a Disney decade...
Disney's popularity has grown every year since the opening of WDW!!!

I think that phrase was coined by Eisner in order to get people to think he was doing great things. In essense he did...but he's still not Walt. And his quick demise was partly due to his selfishness and a majority of the shareholders wanted him gone.

So, is this a Disney decade? I think since the switch-a-roo a couple of years ago that we will be seeing bigger and better things from the company.

I think the latter half of this decade could be considered a Disney Decade so far, with EE, and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and such, and hopefully we can look forward to the next one being even better.

Eisner saved the company. Period. There is no arguing it, without him taking over, the company would have been broken up and sold. And even after that, he turned it into the huge conglomerate that it is today.
Due to being misinformed, stockholders wanted him gone -- not anything about him being selfish. If he was selfish, he would have taken a flat salary instead of a stock-based salary that only pays him if the company does well.

Very hard to believe, considering that they haven't done ANYTHING yet. Refurbs are the order of the day. Thats not 'bigger and better'. Don't get me wrong, refurbs need to be done, and upgrades are great. But those appointed under Iger have yet to come up with one great idea. If you name any big thing since Eisner's ousting, it has all been ideas from his regime.

Now, Iger has had one great idea that should be done ... it is basically based on Eisner fundamentals, things Eisner did that basically expanded the company greatly ... but they need to follow through on it. Thus far, they have yet to follow through on any big projects.

Can we call it a 'Disney Decade' from EE til present day? Yeah, I think so. But there aren't many big theme park related projects upcoming, so that might stall it.
