are these two years of not worth going?

I get that too. Severe disc herniation since 2005. Fortunately I've been able to postpone/avoid the surgery, especially since the surgery ruined my dad. Most of the time, I've learned to manage it, but every once in a while – one wrong move…
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, had the surgeries...living with the pain and medication.

I hear ya. We save for our Disney trips, and we're waiting until early-to-mid-2017 to go next. At that point we will not have been at WDW since December 2012. We were at DLR in 2014 and DLP in 2015. I want to see as much new stuff as possible on our next trip to WDW, starting with the 7DMT that I haven't seen yet!

Back on topic.

Really not much will be closed this year that was open last year. Soarin' will be open most of the year. DHS, you won't notice anything changed. MK will actually not be working on anything that I know of? AK will be the same as it has been for years except a few construction walls.

This is a joke, right?

DHS has a serious identity crisis going on. It isn't a studio anymore, it's Hollywood theme is being pushed aside for Star Wars & Toy Story, Television and Stage aspects are nearly gone, etc.

It's turning into IgerLand.

We just go with the flow and adjust to whatever is happening. Like for a while we'll probably split our Epcot and DHS days but with that said we go fairly often and have been enough times we're not trying to do every single thing in every park every visit. I will admit though it would have been nice if they hadn't added the tiers to the annual passes with a huge price increase right when a lot of things are being closed for refurbishment. We still enjoy going tho.

I think Annual Pass fatigue is a big thing. I held an annual pass to the big UK parks and attractions operated by Merlin/Tussauds for around 10 years and then just realised I was bored with them. Go once a year to Alton Towers for the big end of season fireworks but we aren't going 2-3 times a season per park as we used to.
I imagine it's the same in Florida, there is only so many times you can see the same things or ride the same rides. We did DisneyWorld four times in 10 years and have since done Disneyland. It will be six years between DisneyWorld trips and even with New Fantasyland it only just feels like enough will have changed to be worth it. But Rivers of Light is one of the main things I'm looking forward to at WDW plus Diagon Alley at Uni.

We plan on doing California in maybe 2018 after Florida 2017 from the UK; was just wondering did you 'do' California, or just Disney? I'm planning a month out there! Also how do you feel about Paris? I've been many times in the past but not in the past 10 years and I'm feeling the urge to have a long weekend there sometime this winter.

We did two full days and one evening at the Disney parks. Then a day for Six Flags Magic Mountain, a day sightseeing in LA and a day for Universal Hollywood (did the VIP tour). Then drove to Vegas and flew on to San Francisco. Was a very nice trip.

Last did Paris Disney almost seven years ago. I really want to go to see the new firework & castle projection show, and we very nearly went last year when there was some cheap free dining & discount offers but then we booked Florida instead :) If you can find a good offer for Paris go for it for the fireworks alone from what I've seen o. YouTube. But bear in mind there is a lot of refurbishment going on ahead of Paris' 15th in 2017. But if you've done Big Thunder and/or Space Mountain at Paris before then it's not a great loss while prices are cheaper :)

Yeah, that is much less expensive than going to Universal while at WDW.

We're talking about what is worth the cost.. Universal while at WDW is not worth the cost if you've seen everything already, whereas there is a lot of new or better versions of attractions to experiences at Disneyland.

Somewhere in my 30s I lost the ability to tolerate certain coasters – especially with corkscrews. I don't know what happened, I used to love them. Went on the Batman at great adventure in New Jersey one time when it first opened, got the worst headache of my life, ruined the whole day LOL and ever since then I'm a wuss with roller coasters.
They made that Batman ride run backwards recently and that became the first coaster to make me sick. Sending the queue through what is essentially un-air conditioned metal storage units on a very humid day probably helped ruin my tolerance a bit too.

I have never minded the construction.. Except the HUB.. that was just annoying how long it took. But we go 2-3 times a year being Vacation Club and we love it. Heck there are things I still haven't done and I have been over 42 times.

We head to Disneyland on Saturday and then back to DisneyWorld in May. And I will probably do a trip in December to see the Christmas decorations. If you can go, go. If you have to save to go, still, go... Disney has never let me down even with construction all over.

Take time and enjoy the experience. It shouldn't be just about how many attractions you can ride. There are Spas, amazing restaurants (outside of the parks) and many sights to see. Don't let an 8 foot wall keep you from enjoying a vacation. In today's world, we tend to overwork ourselves and tend to not take down time. Disney can be go go go, but stop for a minute and enjoy the details. You will only like your experience even more.

Ya but it's been the same for years now. It won't be different this year from last year or the year before except star tours has different random films. Been the same for a while and a half day park for me.
Animation building has been completely shut down, backlot tour ended, streets of America closed, American Idol gone...Yep, exactly the same.

When did Backlot tour go down? Just rode it a few months ago. I haven't been in the animations build in 5 years and except for X-mas lights streets of America don't do much for me. Looks like a city street? So what? I do always go see the Muppets and my kids have always loved the play ground but their getting a little to old for that now. You can still get to that stuff now can't you?

Yet it shutdown a couple months ago. Someone had a video on youtube of the last day fo the backlot tour.

Animation was replaced with Star Wars launch bay and the Mickey meet has moved.
Streets of America didn't contain any attractions (expect Osborne Lights for two months of the year).
American Idol was replaced with the Frozen show.

So overall the only attraction lost and not replaced is backlot tour.
