Are there scooters, Segways or buggies to hire?

I've just been reading about how much walking there is to do - is there anything in the parks to hire to get around them easier? Like scooters or buggies or bikes? If so, what sort of prices are they and are they annoying for other walking guests? Or are there buggy lanes?

I am not sure what you mean by buggies, but sadly there are motorized wheel chairs that can be rented. I do not know from where. Along with rental strollers. There are not lanes just for motorized wheel chairs or scooters or strollers they are every where. And yes most of them are a pain because people who are operating them 9 times out of 10 are not paying attention and are running others over. While I understand some people need wheelchairs and some Special Needs children need to their strollers. I am not talking about them. It's a very hot button topic and your likely to get many negative responses about the. Some do apologize if they run over you, but they are few and far between.

The parks are designed for walking, plain and simple, except for the vehicles on Main St USA that basically take you from one end to the other, when they run. No special lanes.

If you have someone in your group with a disability, they have wheelchairs and electric scooter for rent.

If you don't have anyone in your group who is disabled, just do what the rest of us do and start exercising before your trip. :)

You can rent strollers and scooters from Disney at the entrance of every park.

There are also rental services in Orlando (Walker Rentals comes to mind, because I see a lot of people with scooters from there)...if you rent from them, I believe they will deliver the unit to your resort if you are staying on Disney Property.

They do annoy some walking guests on busier days, but it's not a function of the unit itself, it's who is driving it and how much attention they are paying to their surroundings.

I've ran into people who are courteous with their strollers / scooters, and I've run into people who are not. The former are not an issue. The latter...well, what else can you do but shrug it off and keep going with your day?

There are no designated lanes in the parks for strollers or scooters, however there are designated "parking" spots where they can be left while you ride a ride or explore areas where strollers / scooters won't work.

People with scooters / wheelchairs are given priority seating on the busses, however each bus has a limit on how many scooters it can handle (2, as I recall), so be aware that just because you have a scooter, it doesn't mean that you will always be allowed to board a bus. It's rare that it fills up, but it does happen.

Strollers taken on the busses must be able to be folded down.

Private Segways are not allowed on the parks, and Segway tours have been discontinued.

They do rent scooters and wheelchairs in the parks and there are oustside vendors that are usually much cheaper. There are five vendors that are approved and will be able to deliver to your disney hotel and have the scooter waiting at the bell desk when you arrive. I don't remember all five but the ones I do know are Buena Vista Scooters, Apple Scooters, Scooter Bug and Best price mobility. They can all be reserved online.

If you don't have a disability then walk. Scooters r a pain for the rest of us. If someone has a problem then by all means use it but if not just walk. Pretty soon it is going to be like Wall-E where no one walks. It takes up seats on buses for kids so kids have to stand because two scooters on a bus take up 8 seats for other people. Sorry to vent this issiue is up there with tour groups

They rent scooters at each park for the day. I have also heard that you can rent them offsite, but then you keep them with you the entirety of your trip.

Having said that, I completely, 100% agree with the commentary above - if you have a disability which would inhibit your ability to walk about the parks, thereby inhibiting your ability to enjoy your trip, you should rent a scooter. If the only reason you're renting a scooter is because you don't "feel like walking" that's annoying.

Agreed. Scooters are highly abused in wdw. Some really need them but a big majority wouldn't have to if they just made a life change if you know what I mean.
