I went to a few parties last year and loved them.. but was curious if there were any changes for this years event? Is everything going to be the same from the parade floats to the candy treasures or did they change anything. :shrug:

The later March-June 4th dates have not been made official yet, but I hope they do soon.

I just went last night, and had a GREAT time. There are a couple changes in the parade. The Peter Pan units routine had been changed, the new Tick Tock float has been added between Hook/pirates & Peter Pan/Lost boys, and Barbosa is now on the rock float with Jack Sparrow, plus the Tremaines have been added to the parade as well. Also there is no candy being given out this year, they are giving out Mardi Gras type bead necklaces. I hope that helped. :wave:

Candy was one of the best parts about this... Nothing better than skipping from ride to ride on a 4 hour long sugar bender!!! C'mon... at least they could bring back the chocolate dubloons....
We went late Feb last year and (had a blast at this event) we noticed a lot of the candy they were giving out were the Hershey's valentines packaged candy... Not that it bothered me!!
It was a lot of fun, and (IMO) the candy makes it better... Who the heck wants some beads??.... bummer...

Yep, Jack was out in his usual spot in Adventureland, and other than that the only rare characters I saw were Sebastian & Flounder dancing in the Grotto Dance Club in Fantasyland.

Well it could change, but when we went to a couple of the "treat trails" we asked if any of them were giving out candy and we were told "no" just the beads. But again who knows it was only the first night so it could change.

We went last night too and had a BLAST! It was our first P&P party, so I do not have anything to compare it too. We did the Jack Sparrow meet and greet first. Waited about 20 minutes. Loved the queue area for this....very well themed, and they were playing great pirate music. It was not my favorite friend of Jack, but it was still fun (I still think they could do better than this guy....he looks nothing like Jack, and does not sound like him either...the one who is my favorite is dead on in looks and mannerisms). Next we rode POTC with zero wait. We had the entire boat to ourselves since we went to the right side queue...everyone else went to the left, so the boats behind us and in front of us were full! We then staked out a spot for the parade, which was awesome. My little pirate and princess were both so excited. Then we rode some rides in FL. Waited less than 10 minutes for Peter Pan, and walked on alot of the rides (did not attempt Dumbo). Then we did some of the treasure stops, and my son was VERY upset there was no candy (but we bought him some chocolate coins in the candy store on Main Street). Saw Sleeping Beauty in FL, and it was odd because there was no line formed....people were just going up to her. She was standing between Dumbo and the Tea Cups. By then it was time for fireworks, so we headed to Main Street. I have to agree with most others that this fireworks show is AMAZING. We had to leave after that because my kids are still too young to stay out much later than that. We loved the red carpets and fog at the entrance, and the entire atmosphere was so much fun. We can't wait to go again next year, and I'm really looking forward to when my kids are older and we can stay later to take advantage of the short lines and meet more characters.

DS was a pirate, and DD was snow white. My DH and I bought the Mickey ear pirate hats, and I wore a shirt that said I love Pirates (which Captain Jack really liked:animwink
. There were some adults dressed up, but not near as many as I thought there would be. As far as the weather....we've been here since last Wednesday. The first few days were very cloudy but pretty warm....much warmer than I thought it would be, and a little rain here and there....VERY muggy, even for Florida! Then we had a sunny but very cold and windy day on Sunday. Yesterday was very nice....cool but not cold. Today is much warmer so far, and sunny. I have not been paying attention to the weather forcast, so I'm not sure what the end of this week will be like. I did not pack enough short sleeve shirts, and I should have brought some shorts. I brought too many long sleeve shirts. And I brought our heavier jackets, but there was only one time when we needed them, and we probably would have been just fine without them. But Florida in winter is hard to pack for....you just never know when they are going to have a weird cold spell.

Yep, one parade at 8:30 and the fireworks at 9:45, with 2 "Dream Along" shows for the evening. Honestly I can totally understand why they only had one parade. Half of Main Street was empty, which means a second parade would have had even fewer people watching. And trust me, it's NO fun performing a parade when there's hardly anyone out there. ;~)

My kids and nephews are gonna freak if there are no chocolate coins. How can you be a pirate without getting some "gold" coins for your loot bag. What is Disney thinking?
