Are App Wait Times Accurate

I thought someone had posted that wait times are not as bad as the Disney App is showing. We will be there Saturday and I was wondering what anyone’s recent experience was

I have been going to WDW since the 70's and I have always found the wait times to be inflated. About the only time they are not is when an attraction goes 101.

On my last trip in October of this year, I found the wait post wait times to be 20%-50% longer than the actual wait time.

Most are inflated but some are fairly accurate. The 155 minute posted wait for RotR, unfortunately, was fairly accurate after a 150 minute wait. Peter Pan's Flight, rated at 75 minutes when I got in line, was also pretty close. I don't see why people stand in line that long for a boring 2 minute ride and I won't be doing it again now that I know what it's about.

Some of them are always more inflated than the actual wait. I bank on that when it comes to say Pirates or Haunted Mansion, though that assumption has occasionally bitten me in the . I was shocked the first time I actually had to wait 45 minutes for Pirates. Think it really depends on the ride, but that was true even before Genie+.

Thanks for the responses! For just me and my husband I do not think we will do the Genie. I thought the wait times were inflated but wasn’t sure.

I'm glad you asked because I was wondering too. I've noticed lately the times on the app have been quite a bit higher than in recent months, even in the middle of the week and early mornings, etc. I was wondering if they were inflated to get people to buy Genie+. My husband and I are going in January and we are NOT buying it. I'm hoping wait times will not be too bad then.

FOP this week had a 55 minute wait time, I timed it and we made it to ride seat (after pre show) in 35

Navi- had 35 posted, we made it to the boat in 15

different day Safari had 15 minute posted, and we walked pretty much right onto the truck

It baffles me as to why people would wait in any line for Peter Pan. We usually rope drop that ride (back when we could do fast passes for the mine train). I like to ride it, it's cute and it makes me feel happy and like I'm really at Disney World because it's a classic, but it gets so crowded and there's no way I'd wait in a long line for it. So, we ride it first to get it out of the way, same with Pooh and the rest of Fantasyland. Plus, we don't have any young children in our group so we like to knock out Fantasyland before it gets too packed.
