Aquatica vs. BB/TL

I have been to all of them, but it's been awhile since I went to BB. My thing with Aquatica is that it is very relaxing and cool (if it's not super busy... I went the first day it was open to the public and it was EMPTY)... but their big signature is that dolphin slide and it really isn't that great. You zoom past the dolphins. It took me three rides to even SEE them when i went down and I had to "break the rules" and turn my head to do so.

They also have one of those toilet bowl type slides, for lack of a better description. I really like those.

I guess I think TL has a lot more to do, but Aquatica is new, their beach is huge. They have 2 wave pools. IMO, it is very pricey for what is available, so if you want to stay to the disney property, I would pick TL until Aquatica grows and changes over the years.

I would go to Aquatica repeatedly before heading to the Disney parks. I love Aquatica, and they have so much more to do for my whole family then TL/BB do.

If you're really into wave pols, go to TL. The wave pool there is unmatched. The shark snorkeling thing is fun, if you can get past the extremely cold temp of the pool (I saw many who couldn't, and needed help getting through.) Their kids section is just okay, not great, and my oldest can't do much in it. They have two tube rides close the kids' section which aren't remarkable, and one is somewhat uncomfortable (anyone else bother by the "speed bumps"?). Their family raft ride is a joke, and only fits 4 people. I don't know about others, but I had a difficult time getting that unweildy raft up the hill without another adult. There are some of those mat slides, too, but my daughters can't do all of them, so I don't have my to chime in on. They also ahve crush n' gusher, the water coaster, but only my oldest is tall enough for it, and my husband usually takes her, so I can't say much about that except that in the past I've found those uncomfortable.

BB has the best family raft ride I've ever been on, and it fits 6 people, so it's great for my family of 5. Their wave pool is fun, but just like ever other wave pool I've ever visited. They have a few mat slides which are fun. Their little kids section is deplorable. It really, really needs a redo. There's a fun section for older kids, with a couple of small slides, some "iceberg" things to walk across, and a zip line. They do have Summit Plummet and another tall slide, but only my oldest is tall enough to go on them, making that very limiting for us.

Aquatica has an area for little children (which we don't use, because my youngest just doesn't care, but it looks great), and an area for older children (my 4 year old has no trouble playing in this area) which is loads of fun. There's two large dump buckets, slides all over, pipes and tubes dumping water like crazy .... It's one of those several story tall play things (think about those giant net/plastic structures). My whole family can play in this area for hours without getting bored. They also have, in addition to the typical lazy river, a rapids river, which is similar to a lazy river, except it moves incredibly fast! Anyone can use this, but children under a certain height must use a life jacket. Their dolphin slide is okay, it is hard to see the dolphins because you're moving so fast. But, there's a nice place to see the dolphins while off the slide, so it's not limiting. They have good deals on eating all day, which is nice if you spend the whole day there. They have several raft rides which allow 1-2 riders, which my whole family can go on (even my youngest, who is just over 40" without shoes). they have two wave pools which are unremarkable (early on, they had different wave strengths, but they changed them to be the same before the end of the summer.

Overall, I found Aquatica had more things for my whole family to do at the same time. Of course, I'd expect them to have the advantage, since they just opened this year, and TL/BB are much older parks. The themeing in TL/BB is nice, but it doesn't make or break my park experience, and Aquatica is nice and lush with plant life.

The theming of Aquatica is definitely closer to Wet n Wild as opposed to Disney - just with more plant life and it is a bit more colorful. I liked the layout of the park and loved their beach, but it didn't scream haven or getaway like I think TL does.

The theming at the Disney parks is better (until AQ Phase 2 at least) to a significant degree. That's about the only thing that they have over Aquatica. The attractions, amenities, facilities, guest service, park upkeep, and even the food are lightyears better than any other water park in the area.

Aquatica also has substantially longer park hours than the Disney water parks, so depending on the time of year you visit you'll probably be able to enjoy the water park at night, which is always great fun and way more comfortable than getting sunburned during the day!

Pheneix, do you think its worth $42 per person? Because I was thinking of leaving Disney for a day and going to Aquatica with my bf, it would cost a little over $100 so do u think its worth it? The only reason I am thinking of going is because Typhoon Lagoon is closed in March when I go
