I sort of recall seeing a body of water in front of TLM ride in concept drawings. Would that body of water be able to hold the "World of Color" water show or will it be too small?

Way, way, way.... WAY, too small. :animwink:

Using the FLE blueprints as a reference, the small pond in front of Mermaid looks to be about 8 to 10 feet wide at its broadest point and 15 to 20 feet long. The artwork released for Mermaid took some artistic liberties that make it look like the pond was larger, and/or the viewer was standing on a shore further away. But the blueprints don't take artistic liberties. It's a 10 by 20 foot pond at most.

The 1,200 separate World of Color fountains create a mist projection screen that is 380 feet long, with individual fountains extending beyond that 380 foot mist screen. They shoot 200 feet high in the air, or 10 feet taller than Cinderella Castle. The 18 fire nozzles alone send jets of flame 50 feet high in the air, or taller than the Little Mermaid show building itself.

World of Color is big.

World of Color is big.

Not to mention... what an awkward spot that would be for something like World of Color. (do note I've not seen WoC in person but it seems similar to Fantasmic! with the water fountain projections and what not, so no that would be very out of place in a pond in Fantasyland)

As for the spare space, food and restrooms are always good. It would be wise of them to leave some open sitting space or more small vendors rather than clumping more attractions. Then again, that is if I'm seeing this area right and it doesn't really get too close to backstage.

ETA: I was just there in March, which is already so outdated, but from the walls I could see the beginning of the Beast's castle and the tents for Dumbo. I could also see the rocks at the base of Ariel's ride, nothing on Snow White though. I have a picture of the construction wall if anyone is interested, though I just took it because I love that picture of the Beast with all the birds all over him <3

I am still curious how they are going to make the cut off end of the bridge look right. I know that they are going to hide it somehow, but even hiding it seems like it will still look like it ends in the middle of the air. But I am sure it will look great, I just want to know how they plan to do it. LOL

As the forced perspective recedes into the distance there will probably be several false horizons. On of these will likely masked the end of the bridge so it can't be seen.

Speaking of something that "can't be seen", I wonder why there is no companion pic of the Mermaid and Circus areas. Is there something there we are not allowed to see? Or, perhaps more likely, something missing that we are not allowed to see. Or I guess since it is missing it would be more apt to say, "something is missing that we are not allowed not to see". Or something.

:hammer::lol:

Wow, either that is some great forced perspective, or that building is absolutely massive (or both). Look how tiny the castle looks on the roof from the aerial! It's the width of a couple of those flatbed trucks milling around the site. The castle looks really impressive from the ground, though.

Mysterious West Wing

Long time lurker, first time poster with a question. Based on a comment about the building being really large for just a restaurant (and of course food prep, restrooms, check-in, etc.) what will the "mysterious west wing" mentioned in press releases and various other places entail? Any ideas?:)

It's going to be a big restaurant, but I don't think there is much more to it. The building looks HUGE next to the tiny castle, but if you compare the castle size to the cars on the construction site, you'll see that they are almost the same size.

I'm anxious to see new TLM pictures. I wonder how the exterior is going to look like with the water around it when it's done...

Funny I saw a bootlegged photo recently that indicated the tent had been "skinned".

I still think they are making a mistake if they don't take this opportunity to have parades snake through the new FLE instead of routing them through FL and LS. I know it would add to costs but I think it would more than pay off.

As for if there is enough room, the 'pad' seen in the aerials where the two tents currently sit is more than large enough for a new mini-land should they choose someday. Never say never. See 'Horizons'.

Both tents are still there complete with skins

What are the two pits that can be seen in the new photo?

They appear to be where the footway would be.

I'd presume it has something to do with the pond/stream/water-feature that will flow under the walkway into the restaurant.

The building is so massive. It is hard to believe it is just a restaurant.

Well, a good chunk of it is the restaurant. The upper-left is mostly kitchen areas, except for the taller part, which will be one of the side-room seating areas. Also, the kitchen areas have to be dual-purpose, as they'll be table service and counter service. There also has to be counters and registers for when the restaurant is in Counter Service mode.

The little off-shoot framework to the right is Gaston's Tavern, and all that shorter building to the left is the Storytime with Belle stuff.

My guess is some sort of special dining experience. I doubt it is an attraction but I am really just guessing.

Welcome to the boards!

The West Wing is one of the three dining areas in the restaurant. The other two are the ballroom (below) and the gallery/library.
