Appreciation Post

Good Afternoon,

I originally signed up to be a member of this WDW community so that I can fill the void of seperation when I am not in the happiest place on Earth. Whether its reading stories, recommendations, lists or seeing photos of updates, refurbs or food, it always puts a smile on my face. February 17th will be the 11th time that i return to what i truly consider my second home. I have been venturing to WDW since 1995, and i can honestly say that my earliest memory is sitting in a stroller, eating popcorn with my Mother while the rest of my family rode ToT. I am now 26 years old & have countless happy and fun memories at WDW. It seems that the more memories that are added, the more special this place becomes to me. I am venturing down to WDW this year with my girlfriend, our 3rd year in a row. Before we started dating, she had only visited once. Now, she also considers WDW her home away from home. So whats the point of this post, you may ask? Well, its become apparent to me that negativity has become common amongst opinions, wants, and needs when it comes to WDW. Do i enjoy waiting over an hour for a 5 minute ride? Ofcourse not. Do i enjoy encountering nasty people? Ofcourse not. Do i enjoy when mistakes or accidents happen on my trip? Ofcourse not. But when I’m in the happiest place on Earth, i make the most out of every second, because of everything this place has to offer. Every time I am in WDW, i feel truly blessed. Nothing is perfect, but to me, WDW is pretty close to it. So this an appreciation post to WDW. I appreciate the laughs, the joys, the moments, the events and everything this place has given me since I was 3 years old. WDW has always had my back, so I will always have theirs. Any moments, memories or joys that WDW has brought you, I would love to hear about them. Some of you may say im snorting pixie dust or drinking the Disney kool aid. If thats what you believe, so be it. I just want newer members of this community to know how truly great this place is.

Disneys brought me & my family an abundance of joy over the years and despite some things that could be looked at as negative, it gives us many more positive things to focus on and enjoy. WE choose to return because our time on property gives us the opportunity to rest, relax, have fun and experience entertainment that we dont/ cant find anyplace else. Every trip has been a pleasurable one full of new and old adventures weve enjoyed fully.

I often think about how blessed I am because I live a half hour away from Walt Disney World and I have an annual pass. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I HATE the Florida heat and humidity, so I LOVE that awesome moment when the sun starts to go down, and I start to perk back up and get that second wind. The parks that have the later closing hours any given day, THAT’s my jam. It’s just prettier at night, too! Can’t wait to see Pandora at night, looks amazing.

I actually love the parks in the evening when there is a slight drizzle. It's cool it slows the world down and put a sweet smell in the air. I just love walking around and enjoying the calm.

So many memories it would be hard to list them all. My wife and I started taking our daughter when she was just 3 years old on day trips to the MK when we were visiting the St. Pete area. As she got older we started taking week long trips on site, and the time we have had together has been so, so special. In May we will be taking yet another trip. She's 19 now, in her second year of college. As the years have flown by, and she will soon be starting her life on her own, we will always cherish the memories we have had on our visits to WDW. The future holds trips with grandkids, I hope....:)
