I'm not sure about applying a month before you move, because I just applied when the job was posted. After the web interview, I was given the opportunity for either a phone or in person interview, so it doesn't necessarily have to be in person.

Obviously if you choose phone it's going to be a little more difficult to wow them (at least for me, I'm much better in face to face interviews and you can normally leave the interview with an idea on how it went, based on body language alone). I'm very fortunate that I have 10 years of experience in the field I applied, but honestly it's not required to have a background. If you don't have a background in what you're applying for, just be able to sell your passion and most of all your self. Don't be modest; let them know you're a fast learner, you're adaptable, etc.

As I applied for merchandise, a lot of the questions were typical sales associate interview questions. Tell me about a time when you made a customer happy, tell me a time when you had an upset customer, what would you do if a customer buys food and then spills it outside, situational questions like that. I can tell you, as a previous hiring manager, if they say "tell me about a time" TELL ME ABOUT A TIME. Don't be general or vague, like "oh I do that everyday...". That's not what they want.

After the phone interview, it was like two months before the job I had applied for opened up, but the day before I moved to Orlando, they emailed offering me the position. Then I wasn't scheduled to start Traditions for another month. It is DEFINTELY a waiting game. This got so long!!!!! So sorry! Hope any of this is helpful, good luck!!!!!
