well, I guess it's that time for me...I had my senior survey yesterday and my counselor got reeeeaalllly mad at me that I didn't have a school picked out or any applications sent.

So, I guess that come to you guys!! :D Do any of you guys have a good college you could suggest for me? I'm interested in art, animation and graphic design if that helps.

I am a bit stuck right now so any help you guys couls offer would be great! :)

 Thanks guys!

You better start looking for schools that interest you NOW!!! I started doing research in my sophemore year.

You'll need SAT scores for MOST schools...very few don't require them. Sounds to me like your guidance counselor is on crack.

If you're interested in an art school you'll need to get together a portfolio of your work...if you don't have any work you'd be better going to a college that offers art as one of it's major areas of study but doesn't require a portfolio first year.

You better start setting asside free time for all this stuff...you'll have essays to write, apps to fill out and recomendation letters to get. Teachers absolutely HATE when you ask them for a letter last minute.

With all that said and done...it's wise to gett all your stuff sent out to the colleges before christmas vacation.

GOOD LUCK!

If you need any help IM me rcdude_44@msn.com I know of alot of art schools if that the route you're considering going down. I'd be happy to help.

I applied to 10 schools, looked at over 50 across the south. Every school that I looked at would take my ACT score. I never took the SATs.

:D that's okay....I'm too scared to take the SAT, it would make me look stupid....no....:)

but yeah, I got a 26 on that and that pretty much guarentees me into the community college here and I am almost pretty sure I can get into Western Michigan University...so I might end up going there for a bit. But I want to get away from home!

Depends on what part of the country you're looking at colleges in...on the east coast (especially in the northeast), a lot of schools require SATs and won't accept ACTs. If you're looking in the midwest or south, you'll probably be fine.

Have you picked up the Newsweek and US News college issues? That will give you a list of virtually EVERY college in the country, and a rough idea of their requirements. There are tons of good schools that you've never heard about! Trust me, there is life beyond the Ivies and hot schools.

We used www.fastweb.com with mixed results. The college board also has a "matching" site. They listed some colleges that accepted my daughter, and a few that were clearly not a match.

As others have mentioned, I fear you may have limited your options by waiting so long. We started touring colleges in my daughter's junior year (spring break) and wish we had started the summer before!

That's how I visited so many campuses. One year, I did a couple of camps in Missouri and went on to tour colleges in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Texas.

The next summer I vacationed in the Carolinas and visited Tennessee, N.C., S.C., Virginia, W. Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi.

My boyfriend's cousin is majoring in something along those lines. She goes to University of Cincinnati. I've heard they also have a good program at Ohio State and I think Michigan State might have a fairly good one, but I'm not sure. Check out their website. It has lots of good info on it. It's also a very good school, but I'm biased since that's where I go! :D www.msu.edu

I took the SAT but only because my dad made me and one of the schools I was considering required it. Didn't even end up applying there. I got a 24 on my ACT I believe and I got into Michigan State and Valparaiso along with 5 other schools that I applied to including Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Grand Valley State, Oakland University, and Eastern Michigan.
