Looking for my first apartment with the fiancé. Would you pay a little more than you originally wanted for convenience and a landlord instead of a leasing company? Found a great place that is dog friendly (we have a dog), has it's own parking lot, is newly renovated (no one else has lived there since the renovations), and is directly across the street from the 'downtown' area of the town so we could walk to a lot. It is super cute, but it is a little over what we originally said we would spend. We can still totally afford it, but since we haven't done this before, would you say it is worth it?

Our other options are around $100 less a month but aren't walking distance to much and are mostly in large apartment complexes with companies.

If it's only $100 more, I'd do it if it were me. Yes, I know an extra $100 can go a long way if you're also trying to save, but the truth is you'd likely spend it on other things anyway. You might as well spend it on convenience and for what works for you, like accommodating your fur baby. I'm the kind of person where I'd rather spend a hair more to get certain amaneties or conveniences.

When DH and I lived in our first apartment, we payed a hair more for convenience, safety, comfort, and a landlord. It was well worth it.

Congrats!
