AP vs Fla. res

hi everyone,

we are florida residents who are most likely going to buy annual passes in december while on our trip. our questions is - are the AP discounts (for hotel) better, worse, or the same as florida resident rates? Are there other deals that one can only get with an AP? we know the AP will save us $$$ on the tickets, but will it save us even more money on other things?

thanks in advance,

tracy & alex

Hey Tracy and Alex!

Well, here's the deal with AP deals, it depends on the time of year. As far as hotels, it can save a bunch, but so can FL deals. Most of the time, AP deals are better, but sometimes only slightly. Beyond the hotels, there are many discounts for Passholders such as:

discounts at Epcot table service dining for moday-friday
discounts on hotel table service lunches
discounts on Water parks, Disney Quest, and Plesure Island.
50% off mini-golf!
Discounts on Backstage tours
Discounts on Marnia Rentals
Passholder exclusive events (sneek previews) and merchandice.
Discounts on Wide World of Sports events and All star cafe.

This is just the beginning of it, there's more, this is just what I find most useful!

Hope that helps, I'm a passholder, along with many others here, so if you have any questions just ask!

btw, nice hat! GO FSU! You know about FSU in splash mountain right?

dont quote me on this, but I believe FL res have blackout dates! which means peak season like Christmas, Spring Break I think you would wind up not being able to use it at thoes times. So im thinking an AP is going to benefit you more if you plan on going during the busy season.. Like I said im not sure if I am correct! This is something I heard in the past. I have an AP, I live in Illiniois and we just love it! We got Animal Kingdom Lodge at christmas time in in 2002 for 10 nights.. Checked in Dec 23 and checked out Jan 1st and it was $139 a night with tax and that was a Savanah View. It was awesome, so we live by Annual Passes! Hope this helps!:animwink:

The Florida Resident Seasonal Pass has blackout dates that apply around the peak times of year. The Florida Resident Annual Pass is the same as the AP available to anybody else, just at a discounted rate. Currently, $325 vs $415 for an adult AP.

The room only discount for Florida residents (that does not require any type of pass just a valid Florida id) is usually about the same as the AP discount. However, you will need some sort of park admission and the AP is the way to go. We used to live in FL and had AP's. We loved the flexibility of them. Since we moved back to VA we've kept them and still make great use of them.

FYI these are the blackout dates for 2006:

12/22/05 - 1/5/06
4/8 - 4/21
6/10 - 8/17
12/22/06 - 1/5/07

We love our season passes. We do not go during peak times, so this was a great deal for us. We can by passes for our family of 4 for $888.23 that with tax. The AP's were $1,291.86. It depends on when you like to go. Perks are the same though.

thanks for the info everyone!!!:sohappy:
we are gonna change our park hoppers for APs when we are there in december (that way we don't have to pay for all of it at one time ;) ). we go at least 3 times a year and the AP would cut down the cost a lot, and maybe we get lucky and the AP rate is less than the florida resident rate
