AP renewal used same RFID tickets

Just a minor tidbit I found interesting. Our FL resident AP's were going to expire August 11, 2013 so we ran out to MK last Saturday, the 3rd and renewed them. We had previously switched over to the plastic RFID tickets during the Passholder ticket swap in the Odyssey building at Epcot.

When we renewed, she gave us back the same exact RFID tickets. I asked her if that was ok since they had the expiration date of "8/11/13" written on them. So she took them back and wrote OVER the old expatriation date with sharpie to say "8/11/14" and then handed them back. I realized the front of the ticket says "2013-2014" on it.

I just thought it was odd we didn't get different tickets. Previously of course, you always turned in your old ones and got new ones. Seems like they're not doing that if you have a current RFID ticket. I don't mind, they're plastic and they still work. I just found it a change from previous procedure in past years.

I wouldn't care, either. As long as the passes work, yay! I don't want or need a new one.

I wonder if it will be an issue with parking, though. All those people do is check the expiration date. Maybe they will have to start scanning all of them. Such a shame. Getting us through the toll booth easily is me thing Disney does so much better than Uni!! (Well, except for that one unfortunate woman at Epcot, but she may be gone - haven't seen her in a while.)

Thanks for sharing your update. Interesting!

About five or six years back before I dropped my Walt Disney World Annual Pass I had it renewed over the phone and never went to get a new pass until the mag stripe died. Just recently I finally replaced my Universal Orlando Resort pass that had a 2011 experiation date on it.

Might be because they will be switching to magic bands before the end of year???
What I don't like about having a Magic Band for an AP is that you can't carry that in your wallet. So its a little harder doing a spur of the moment trip to MK if you are not carrying your Magic Band.

No gossip! She was just unpleasant. Not only did she have to take the AP every time someone had one, she then stared at it, satisfied herself that it was valid and sullenly, dismissively returned it without so much as the hint of a smile.

She was always like that. Crabby. Spreading her crabbiness to the world through AP verification, lol.

I don't think she works there any longer. I haven't seen her in a while. But I haven't been to the parks as much as I used to. If I see her, I'll look for a name tag and then others can report in on how she handles non-AP parking stuff. :) Anyone who visits the parks often has to know who she is, though.
