I just asked that ??? earlier this week...the A/P discounts were announced yesterday!!!!!!! Very Cool....

I called & saved 32% on my room for Feb 2011.....YEY!!!!!!!:ROFLOL:

As a direct result of the disappointing 4th quarter results (particularly in the areas of reduced WDW visitation and resort stays), Iger and company have found it necessary to once again endorse resort room discounts. Bookings are still down so it may take another quarter before they see some improvement. Even with the discounts they'll be lucky if they can come in under 3% of last year.

In the past that was true but over the last 2 years AP discounts have been coming out later and later, with more blackouts, and fewer rooms. Also the probability for an AP rate being the best deal is rapidly declining. I have several clients with AP that are booked under free dining or general public offers because the numbers work out better. If you can't at least break even on admission an AP is not always the best choice.
I've never seen a dining plan deal (even free dining) work out better than an AP unless you're staying at a value resort. Paying rack rate to get free dining just doesn't make sense if you're staying in a deluxe.

As far as when discounts were offered, I've had a pass over the last 3 years, and I've never had an agent tell me there weren't rooms available for an AP rate. Never. I guess I got lucky.

There are certainly times when my job got me a better rate, but not by much.

I am booked at Pop using the general public offer because sadly it is better than the AP discount. I just need a standard room and that wasn't even offered with the AP discount for value resorts. I am glad that I booked when I did because it seems like they are waiting so long to even release the AP discounts. Oh well, I am arriving on my birthday in 25 days!!!

For the most part the values will be a better deal with free dining but right now all it seems to take to switch the tables on the moderates is one kid 10 or over. With 2 kids 10 or over the lower priced deluxe resorts start to become possibilities as well.

Just because you have not run into an issue with AP discounts does not mean they do not occur. As you might have guessed I book quite a few more vacations than the average person and I have run into several occasions where for one reason or another AP rates were either not available or required a split stay to avoid black out dates.
