AP Rate - Voucher no longer accepted?

Hi all,

We are planning to stay a few days in March at WDW before and after our Carribean Cruise (its MUCH Cheaper to fly to Orlando than Ft. Lauderdale:). Since we are going back in Nov-Dec we decided to get an annual pass. Now always in the past when we have booked an AP rate all we have had to do is present the AP Voucher and they have honored the rate. This time however I talked to a CM who informed me in no uncertain terms that I would have to present an ACTIVATED Annual Pass to get the AP rate they would NOT accept the voucher. She also informed me that I would have to activate the AP at Guest Relations at the theme park. OUCH  She said they had been burned too many times by folks presenting the voucher and not activating it? huh??? Why would you buy an AP and not activate i?. The room discounts do not justify keeping the voucher and buying a separate admission ticket.

In any case we don't get in until 8:30pm so going to a theme park is out of the question, I've heard we can activate the pass at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney. Will that work? If so its still a PITA to have to drive to DTD, run in, activate the pass and THEN check in after flying all day from the West Coast. When did Disney change their policy?

thanks,

Kevin and Mona

In over 10 trips in the last 5 years, I've never once been asked to present my AP or voucher or any proof that I had one. Never ever. I say take your chances.

If you don't have it at check-in and if they ask, they'll give you the opportunity to activate it and bring it back when you return after your first day in the parks.

But that second "if" is the biggest... I've never been asked to show my AP when checking in on an AP discounted room.

To confirm...

You will be able to present an Annual Pass Voucher upon check-in as long as the voucher is activated within 24 hours. I do apologize you were giving incorrect information.

Also note, Annual Passholders are not often asked to show their active pass upon check-in because the names on the reservation has already been cross-matched with Ticketing to verify one of the Adult Guests in the room is an active passholder.

Enjoy your stay! :sohappy:

JP you da Man! err Duck!!! err. THANKS!!!!!!!!!:sohappy: You have given us a world of relief. I did tell the CM that we would be activating the pass first thing the next morning but she was adamant. Glad this won't be an issue!

take care,

I am in a similar situation. We get in much earlier adn I wanted to at least check in. I was told that if I am even asked, show the voucher and that will a tleast get the ball rolling. I just need to show the activated pass when I return from the parks. I was also told that they will most likely not even check.

The only time I have ever been asked for one was when i was making a reservation on the phone and I then had to purchase one. Not a big deal since I needed it anyway.

We have done this many times and not had any issues. The last time the CM checking us in did ask that we come back before checking out and show them the AP.
