Wife just got an email and registered us for a July passholder preview.

Sorry, don't have details but it mentioned entertainment and refreshments and characters for 2 hour event.

Several dates and times. I'm sure it'll fill quickly.

If you go it sure would be nice to get pics of other than the obvious vistas (IE Bay Lake). It sounds like non-members/guests may not have access to the place once it opens. So any pics will be appreciated.

In fact - the info from Disney said to be sure to bring a camera, so we'll be snapping plenty.

Here's the information:

From July 10-12, Disney Vacation Club invites you to attend "Vacation As You Wish," a special sales presentation featuring an interactive show that reveals how you can save more, get more, and do more than you ever dreamed possible. Plus, you will be able to enjoy character greetings, tasty treats, exclusive giveaways, and a guided tour of the still-unopened Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today and forever change the way you vacation!

Event Details

  • Event Dates: July 10 -12, 2009
  • Event Times: July 10 - 7:00pm, July 11 - 3:00pm, July 12 - 3:00pm. Show will last approximately 2 hours.
  • Check-in Location: Ballroom of the Americas, Disney's Contemporary Resort.
  • Parking: Contemporary Resort parking lot – be sure to mention you are a Passholder to be allowed in.
  • Check-in Time: 45 minutes prior to show time.
While it'd be neat to get a preview of the resort, I don't need a 2-hour sales pitch for a timeshare. :hurl: So it'll be a pass for me.

I NEVER get AP emails. It makes me sooooooo mad! Do only local FL residents get these emails? I feel like a step-child all the time.

Don't feel bad. I've never ever ever ever gotten one either. For years. I've called and asked to be subscribed, I've talked to Guest Services in the parks - nothing.

Then today, in Love's email account - that I don't think we've ever given them - poof! An AP newsletter arrived. I seriously don't think there's any actual way to request them. I think they just decide to give you them or not.

The info I copied though came from the disneyworld.com/passholder site so it's live there if you want to sign up.

aren't time share sales presentations in exchange for Disney benefits usually to be avoided? ;)

If it's possible to skip the actual presentation, disguised as a plant, yes.

But that guided tour looks awesome. I only have ever seen the BLT from the monorail and, from pictures from another website that shows the interior of the penthouse, it looks like something to anticipate. Though it is possible to just walk in as a "member" some time after it opens...:zipit::zipit::zipit:

We went to the Vacation as You Wish presentation in Schaumburg, IL (where one of the Doorway to Dreams stores is located), and we got several gifts for attending. They alone justified taking the two hours to see the presentation.

Of course, we drove an hour to see it and the characters just to get our "Disney fix", so maybe it's different for us than for someone who lives in close proximity to the parks.

Firstly, please don't say I am an idiot but after signing up for the Wed 3PM slot (there were at least a dozen times and dates to choose from yesterday) I printed the confirmation like they said and closed the window. I then noticed the confirmation you have to bring to the event doesn't say the date I am confirmed for. I can't remember if it is July 1 or July 8th. I having been looking for a phone number to call.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Yeah I mean in an hour, I'm at WDW. So I'd never in a million years have any interest in a timeshare there. For what the timeshare would cost me, I could pretty much buy a house instead. *shrugs* So I'd really be interested in the tour, but I can't justify driving an hour out there just to sit through a two hour sales pitch, you know?

I would try and call DVC and see if they can help.

I can't check, but I'm pretty sure if you log in to your passholder account and check special events (or something like that) the site will show you what events you're currently registered for.

I live close enough to justify going to this preview. I think it'll be a pleasant enough way to spend a couple of hours and maybe get a goodie or two.

And since I'm completely impervious to timeshare pitches, well.....hakuna matada.

Thanks. I looked and it doesn't show the event there. I will just try July 1st and let you all know.
thanks again

I received that e-mail last week, which was sent to DVC members. I'm not really interested in adding points to my account, but the lure of a tour through Bay Lake Towers was too much to resist. :) We'll be going on July 2.

Earlier this month, DVC did some of these events as webcasts. Participants were shipped a box filled with goodies prior to the event. The box had Mickey ears with the DVC logo, a leather/leatherette portfolio and a pen to take notes during the presentation, a DVC mousepad, a bag of Mickey confetti, and full-color brochures for BLT and DVC.
