AP Dining Card Questions

I can't remember what they now call the AP dining card you can purchase, so I will call it DDE as of old days.

Anyway.......I am trying to decide if we should get it this year. We will have a party of 6. Now, if we use the card, they automatically put on an 18% tip, is this correct? If we don't use it, with a party of 6 is the 18% still automatic?

How much is it again? $50 or $60 for one? (we wouldn't need a second).

We have a trip of 6 in April and doing some TS, but not too many. In Sept, it will just be DH and I and we will have the free dining plan. But, we will probably get extras like an appetizer, wine etc.

Since we are going during spring break, there will be holiday surcharges on our meals most likely. Maybe the card can help offset extra costs.

Thoughts?

Thanks so much!

The Tables In Wonderland is the name and it's $60 for AP holders. Yes, they add in an 18% gratuity and they do so for partes of 6+ as well. We have the card, but we also use the dining plan. We use the card for the extras you mentioned.

I'll be buying my TiW card on Friday! :king:

I usually save enough to pay for it in one or two meals [since I'm usually with my son, we take a while to eat enough]. With a party of 6, you could easily pay off the $60 in one TS meal.

I find it easily worth more than any other approach to dining. The Dining Plan is something I'll only do if it's free and even then I find there are sometimes better ways to save overall. For example, in August I'll be staying at Beach Club for 7 nights using the 40% off PIN. That savings allowed me to upgrade to water view and still save enough to easily pay for all my meals that week. TiW will improve those savings, but even free dining wouldn't be worth losing the resort savings.

Thank you so much for the info! I will be getting the card :)

A question I forgot to ask: We are doing the Fantasmic dinner package and they already took my CC info. Can we use the card to get a discount on that? If so, do I need to tell them ahead of time that I will be using it? Or do I just show them the card at dinner?

Sorry for all the questions!

Remember too that the 18% that is added can be removed.

It is added because they don't want people just stiffing the front of the house on a large check.

However, if you have had poor service, tell a manager. The tip can be asjusted if necessary, it can also be augmented for superior service.
