AP and check in

Help please! I just did an online chat and I don't think the cast member understood what I was saying. I will be checking in on Sunday morning and Ive recently bought a new annual pass. I booked the pass holder room rate and it says I have to show proof that I am one at check in. How do I do this if I haven't activated the pass yet because we will be checking into the hotel first and then going to the park for my first use? She kept saying "you can go to any guest relations at a park or disney springs to activate your pass" lol but I already knew that, that wasn't my concern.

Don't worry. I stay onsite with the AP discount several times per year and have never been asked to show my AP. If you have have linked your AP in your My Disney Experience account, that is proof enough to the CM at check in that you qualify for the rate...if you are even asked.

Also, if you do online check in direct-to-room, you won't need to even speak to a CM.

Same whether it was my first stay last year, or the 3rd this year, never ever asked to show proof of AP.

I've always been linked in MDE, i'm sure all that shows up on their end.

I've never had them ask for my AP on check in, even pre MDE. But they should allow you to return within 24 hours with an activated AP and you should be all set.

Do you have the voucher from the online purchase? I'd bring it just in case.

We did this for years before we went DVC, and they never, not once, asked. But we were always paranoid and brought the voucher :)

EDIT: I just remembered there was in fact one time at AKL they asked.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I would go activate it at Disney Springs( that's where I usually went)/or a park before you go check in if you can. It's hit or miss sometimes they ask for it and sometimes they do not in my experience. But it does show up in MDE now they you purchased one so they should see that if you cannot get somewhere to activate it first. :)

They've never asked me in years of staying on site with pass holder rates. You're going to have your voucher anyways. I'm sure you could use that if the situation were to arise.

We had five trips on our last pass, and never did they ask to see the pass. They do ask to see the card when getting the 10% discount in stores, so carry it with you into the parks, they need more than the band. Our first trip on the pass we had not even gotten the passes before we checked in. The plan was to go by Downtown Disney, but plans changed and we got the pass at first park the next morning.

Seven trips since we got our APs in August 2013 and never once asked to show my AP.

If you link yoiur voucher to your MDE account, it will automatically show the AP when you've activated the voucher. In which case they won't ask. If you didn't activate the voucher, you might be billed or the higher room rate when you check out.
