Aother small Zipper update

Here is the development of the boom support. I wanted to make this a little more 3 dimensional looking than a simple polygon, so I have offset a small diamond pattern by 1/2 a stud to give the support a little more detail. I also inbedded a 'Z' for zipper in the center as I needed someway to center the diamond patterns. The diamonds are an odd number of bricks wide, and the support is even numbered, so putting the diamonds directly in the center was not possible.

You'll notice that some of the bricks on the inside of the boom support are off color. This is one of those great places to 'get rid of' those older bricks that have chanegd color, or the crappy ones I happen to get some bulk auctions. I don't throw them away like some builders do, but rather, I keep them aside for use on the inside of structures for support. That way I am not wasting good brick that won't be seen.

When I read "zipper" and "boom support", I thought you were talking about some incident with a pair of jeans!

That should teach me to check the board I am clicking on before I open a thread! :animwink:

LOL@Maria

I guess they fall under the "Engineering terms that sound off-color, but aren't"

Why thanks of course!

Thanks for the compliments SirNimajneb et al.

I really am passionate about my littel hobby, so to hear your input is very encouraging. I am not well connected to the Lego community, although I did make it to Brickfest last year in Washington D.C., and I got to display the Flying Bobs.

Anywho, I have allot of work planned over the next few weeks, so if I get the thumbs up from some, I will keep posting the progress reports.

If this is not a good place for this, then I will lay off until I get close to completion.

Thanks again guys!

Please keep us up-to-date w/ your progress. I love to see how the model forms from beginning to end. Great job! You really should consider a job at LEGOLand or WDI.
