AOA opinions

Hi all, its been quite a while since I posted sorry!!!
a little back story, we are going to Disney in August, I booked AOA, we are all excited, we booked the Nemo suites but I just downgraded my room to the little mermaid rooms (connecting rooms hopefully) but now I'm doubting my switch in the kids wanted the Nemo suite but because if free dining did come out I wouldn't be able to get it so I downgraded to two Little Mermaid rooms and now I am saving 300.00 so now I am thinking the money I saved I can use for 2 restaurants they wanted to eat at, right? That makes sense rather then paying for the whole TS dining plan, So why am I doubting my decisions????????????? I have to look at the whole overview of the property, I am not sure but the little mermaid area looks pretty far from the main building and the kids def. wanted to do the Nemo Pool and that looks pretty far from the LM area....ugh!!! HELP!! ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED!!

We stayed there last July/August for two weeks. We were originally booked at POR, but upon arrival there was a major problem with our room and they had to move us. So, off we went to the AOA and they put us in the Cars Suites. They were very nice. We enjoyed the Nemo pool and the Cars pool. We explored the entire area during our two weeks there taking photos. LM is a bit of a walk. OK during the heat of the day when we were exploring...it seemed like it took forever. But in all honesty we have had walks that were just as long or longer at other resorts (CS).

How old are your children? How many hikes to the pool will you be making? If you are going for a week and will be going every single day to the pool - which will mean a trip to your room to change, then walk to the pool, then back to your room, then maybe spend the $300. If you will only be visiting the pool once or twice save the money.

A few other points to ponder...are you driving? If so, will you be bringing food, drinks, snacks, etc? The suites have the fridge, microwave, sink, storage cabinets, plates, bowls, cups.

Also, what is that made the Nemo suites so attractive to the kids? My youngest fell in love with the Cars suites details and that included getting to sleep on the pull down 'Mater bed where the table transitioned into the bed.

Mind you, we didn't pay to stay at AOA, our room at POR was much cheaper than the suite. We enjoyed the suite, but I don't know if we would pay the suite prices to stay there again. The LM is a bit of a walk, but nothing so extreme that would keep me from staying there. Enjoy your stay no matter which rooms you decide.

AoA is big and there is a lot of walking....but there is a lot of walking at WDW anyway. Try this...fill up the tub at the LM room, point to it then to the most highly themed pool at all of WDW and give them the choice...I bet the Nemo pool won't seem so far away! :)

You will be fine. Quick walk through Lion King and you are there. AoA is a neat resort!

Thank you for your input you make a lot of good points, my kids ages range from 6 to 12 yrs old, and true, how often will we be at the pools maybe after the parks or once or twice during the day, i guess for now I will just leave the ressie the way it is, ;) thank you

I have stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms and I really don't think it's as far as some think. It was actually a really nice area. The pool was nice and the area I thought was more quiet than the Nemo area. Have fun!

I understand the moving you but how did they move you from a Moderate to a Value??? I would have had a fit. When we got bumped from POR (seems to happen enough) we were sent to Animal Kingdom Lodge. My girlfriend was bumped from POR too, they were sent to the Yacht Club. Did you book through a travel agent?

To be honest, my kids liked the Cars pool more. It was less crowded, had the 'cool' cozy cone motels to relax in while listening to music....so when you are visiting the pools, you might want to make some time for a quick dip in this one too.

Free dining won't necessarily exclude the family suites..last year we had family stay in the lion king suites with free dining in September. I believe it was the little mermaid rooms that were excluded last year...

Thank you, that is GTK, I am still torn as to whether or not to stay put or move back to the suites now, and now its not even about free dining, now its about whether or not I should up to park hoppers and take 1 day off to have a "relax" day

What about having two half days for relaxation at the pool, and use the other half or so of those days for parks. This way you can spread out some pool days and save on park hoppers. Just an idea.

We stayed at LM rooms it was a bit of a walk for some of our party. We actualy drove to the front of the resort, that possibly might work for you. But if your looking to save more then go to pop, or even other all-stars if possible. POP has it's perks as far as it's own bus. We figure how much are we actually use the room ,(which usually shower, sleep, & change) The relax day at the pools is a good idea break the parks up a little to help rest your bodies, in the cool pools will help the muscles. It helps us alot, we usually split the days up, & if you plan on going to all the parks & it's been awhile since you was there, mite want to do the park hopper just in case there is a park you just want to go to for example maybe to just do fantasmic or whatever & however your plans work & do what is best for you. All of the ideas help of coarse but it does come down to whats best for you & what works for you & your family.
