Please help! I just found this site, and am bumbling through trying to post. I hope I'm in the right forum!

I have had reservations for some time for Art of Animation-Little Mermaid room. Now I'm reading reviews and finding some who say the walk from the bus to those rooms, and those rooms to the main pool are fairly long walks. I am really worried that after a long day at the parks my 6 year old will hate having to walk so far on the resort. I inquired today about changing my reservations, and am contemplating changing to Port Orleans French Quarter. They assured me I would be within just a couple of minutes walk time to everything at their resort. The rooms there are a little larger, and larger bed. I would appreciate any tips/reviews/info about either of these two places. Thanks so much!

Welcome to the boards! I have stayed and at both and here's my take:

AOA-LM are about a 5-10 minute walk from the main pool and bus area, depending on how fast your family walks. We did not find it to be that far away, as others have mentioned. It has cute theming, but very "in your face". If your DD loves Little Mermaid, you should for sure stay there. She won't be disappointed. We felt the walls were thin. The pools are great (main one is saline, not chlorine), but not a lot of shade. Super arcade. You do not share a bus with another resort. We were there week of opening Nemo rooms and beginning of December for staying in the LM rooms, so it was not crowded either time. I don't know what the crowds would be like during the summer or more crowded times.

FOFQ - beautiful and quaint. Excellent theming, but not overtly Disney. It is very small and compact. You could be anywhere on the resort within 5 minutes. If you plan on staying at the resort for a lot of down time, there is so much to do. The pool has a slide and plenty of shade (AOA has neither). You share privileges with PORS, so you get use of another great pool. There are also activities at PORS such as Surrey Bikes, Cane Pole Fishing (both are rentals). You may share a bus with the PORS resort, which can lengthen the time you are on a bus. PORS has 4 stops, if shared (sometimes it is and sometimes it is not) you may be the first stop or the last stop. Queen beds, IMO are a great benefit. It was a quieter room, although the flushing of other people's toilets was noticeable. Another benefit of this resort is the you can take a boat ride to and from Downtown Disney, instead of the bus ride. It's a great trip that lasts 15-20 minutes and it's quite scenic. The boat will also take you to PORS or you can walk on the path. We have been here in June, during the busy season, and it never felt crowded. The food court is kind of small, but just avoid peak times and it shouldn't be too busy.

Hope you have a great trip!

If she is really I to little mermaid, then go to aoa, it's really nice and new, the walk does stink but it's not all that bad. Much pixie dust hit the nail on the head about fq.Either way they are both great, just a little bit of different features, if it was me, fq hands down
