Anything that could beat Morton's?

Let me say first of all that I love dining at the World. We always do the Deluxe Dining plan and eat at least 2 table service meals a day, sometimes three. I LOVE the fact that I can sit down and order whatever I want, without having to worry about the price. It is the only "all-inclusive" vacation we do every year, and I love it! I also have my favorite restaurants that I crave all year. So there is no way anyone could consider me knocking the Disney dining experience! :sohappy:

But Adam and I went to Morton's for our anniversary...we always go either for our anniversary or Christmas every year. I honestly don't know if there is anywhere else in the universe where the food is as good as Morton's. So for all of you guys who love the signature restaurants at Disney, and have eaten at Morton's...do you think any of them compare? Here's what I got at Morton's, so you can have an idea of the food I like...

Morton's Chopped Salad (I don't know why, but this salad totally rocks my face off)
Crabcakes
Single-cut filet (cooked medium)
Mashed Potatoes
Morton's Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake
Mojito (it was sooooooo good)

The closest place you will find on property and on the DDP is the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. Shula's at Swan and Dolphin would also be comparable but it is not on the DDP. If you want to venture off property I really enjoyed Charlie's on I-drive but it has been a good 9-10 years since I have been there and quite a bit can happen in that time.

We love Morton's! We go every year for our anniversary. The baked potatoes alone could fill me up!!! LOL I have to agree, Yachtsman is pretty darn close, but no where's as much food as Morton's. As much as we love Le Cellier, it doesn't come close to Morton's. Yachtsmans is your best bet.

Personally I prefer Peter Luger's to Morton's, but that said, I'd rank the meal I had at Brown Derby pretty high - cobb salad, steak and grapefruit cake.

How about Victoria and Alberts? Morton's is very good, but V&A takes it to the next level, especially when they have specials like true Kobe beef.

Not exactly on-topic, but steak-related. I work in NYC, and about 2 blocks from my office, there's an upscale steak joint, one that tries to be comparable to Morton's, called Bobby Van's Grill, AND right next door to it is the Sizzler-esque "Tad's Steaks." Lunch special includes a 6 oz sirloin with baked potato and vegetables for something like 8 bucks there.

Tad's is graded "A" by the city for its cleanliness. Posted right on the front window (as I believe it's city law).
Bobby Van's, at multiple times the price? "Grade Pending."

For the old folks at home, I'm only assuming Bobby Van's is named after the song-and-dance man and host of "Make Me Laugh."

I see Tad's every time I walk out of Penn Station down 34th Street (which I've done thousands of times) and yet I've never eaten there. Have you?

Well, I've never eaten at that Tad's - it is a franchise, there are a few of them in the city. The one closest to my office is on 50th and once - maybe 10 years ago - I went on a lark. The fact that I don't remember much about it makes me assume it was neither awesome nor awful (were it awful, I'd probably remember it). I'm guessing for the price it's not the leanest beef from the best of sources. But I don't live in the city, and I'm not much of a steak-eater in the first place, but steak tends to sit heavy in my belly so I practically never have it for lunch. That makes for one awkward commute home. :lookaroun What I remember more was just that it felt sad being there.

But the place apparently IS clean, whereas right next door, the cleanliness is still in question, despite meals being anywhere from 4 to 10+ times more expensive.

I have to say that I been to Morton's many times as well as other steakhouses comparable to Morton's in the Philly area, and while I love Lecellier, I agree it is not on Morton's level. I too would have to say that Yachtmans is probably the most compable place in Disney.

Peter Luger's in Brooklyn is by far the best steak I've ever eaten..we have reservations for the Yachtsman on my birthday so I am very eager to see how it compares :slurp:

Being from Chicago I've visited my fair share of Steak Houses and there are lots of places that beat Morton's

In Chicago

The Chop House
Gene & Georgetti
Gibson's

In the Orlando area I'd go with these places
Vito's Chop House on I Drive
Fleming's on Sand Lake

Fleming's takes the top spot without a doubt!

Precisely what I said above! Try Peter Lugers in Great Neck as well. The ambience is a LITTLE warmer and the steaks are still to-die-for. And don't forget the apple strudel with "schlag"!
