In the last 2 years they have opened up a DVC store (?) in a mall around where I grew up. I have always wanted to work for Disney (in virtually any capacity, im not kidding!) and as a web designer - you'd think I have many options, but unless I move to FL or CA, i really only have the coveted several jobs making web banners in White Plains NY  (no one knows what im talking about, that's okay) :lookaroun

Point is - does anyone work there? I was wondering, if its something where you could work part time, and what kind of experience would you need to do it? Also, if you needed to own a DVC in order to sell them.

And are you called Cast Members? :D :D Things that are obtainable for FL and CA people, would make me easily squeal with glee.

I sense you're talking about the Roosevelt Field Mall Doorway to Dreams. They occasionally put up job listings there on disneycareers.com. I myself applied there last year but didn't hear anything. I'm sure they're looking for real estate people, but couldn't hurt to check!

Since they do have name tags and do work for Disney, they definitely are considered Cast Members, just as Disney Store cast members are.

It's a pretty impressive place, my wife and I go there when we need our Disney fix and just tour the model rooms. It's really the best way to be there without the cost and time for a flight, etc.

I still check back on the website to see if there are more listings, but haven't seen them in a while. Never hurts to keep looking.

Perhaps someone else knows more, but hope this helps!

I know someone who went through the interview process at Doorway to Dreams a year or so ago. Compensation is pretty brutal. Basically they pay you sub minimum wages (something like $3-4 per hour) and you don't get additional compensation unless monthly sales meet a minimum threshold. Not just making any sale--there was a minimum number of points that had to be sold in a month before any additional wages were paid. The number 1500 sticks in my mind. The way it was described to me, if you are expected to sell 1500 points and only sell 1450, no additional wages are paid.

Benefits are very limited since it's a part time position.

No, you don't have to be a DVC member but obviously you do have to be well versed in the program. Need to be someone who presents well and communicates well. To be blunt, they don't want just any schlub who knows where to find the nearest Dole Whip stand.

My understanding is that being a Disney fanatic is often viewed as a negative in interviews. They want professional, hard-working people rather than over-eager pin trading and vinylmation fans.

Bottom line is would be a sales position and you're expected to be able to close sales. I don't remember if a real estate license is required but it seems very possible.

(Obviously I don't know you so please don't take anything I said above personally. Just trying to characterize the type of people Disney tends to seek out. )

Im from the Island and we went to Roosevelt field to see the presentation. We decided to go to the timeshare store but still hear from our dvc salesperson from time to time. They really try to make the deal.

As far as working for Disney, Its something Id always thought I might do But when I saw what they paid there I.t. and Telephony people It was almost laughable.

Not exactly famous for being good to their employees either.

Just beware...The 30 minutes they said it would take was over 2 hours!!
