Don’t forget that there is a subset of this group that is homeless by choice. They prefer the lifestyle. It’s not because they are mentally challenged or physically disabled that they are homeless. It’s because they do not want to work for a living most often due to drug addiction. To their way of thinking, it’s easier to beg, mooch, steal, prostitute and scam welfare agencies. Do you really think those people on street corners with signs that read, “Will work for food”, really want a job?

Remember Ted Williams (aka “Golden Voice)? His saga has been played out in the national news during the last year and he hasn’t cleaned up his act yet. He’s a proven liar.

I don't really understand your vehimence on this subject. Yes there are many aspects and demographics within the homeless population. Some are generally in need and willing to work and some are working the system. I don't think anyone would be envious of their extravagant lifestyles of sleeping on a ______ and going to a soup kitchen in order to maintain their adictions.

People on all levels of life scam or work the system to their advantage. Whether it is a wealthy person massaging the tax code, corporate expense padding and yes welfare/homeless fund misuse. I wonder which ones cause American tax payers the most money.

One gentleman being interviewed said he had never been so grateful to get a job collecting garbage. His statement would have made more sense had he lived in middle-of-nowhere'sville with only a handful of businesses.

not sure where you are from.. but garbage men in my neighborhood make $60k+ a year, I know one gentlemen who retired making $80k.

the claim that one third of all homeless families in the US live in Central Florida is totally false

the show said 1/3rd of all homeless people live in FLORIDA, not just central

Unfortunately, yeah.

I live in Orlando, and I know of two fairly large "homeless camps" located in the woods in East Orlando. We've stumbled upon them while urban exploring and there were a ton of tents set up near the college area. Downtown is FULL of homeless people, as well.

I've never seen so many homeless people in my life.

Working in the ER, we received a lot of families from the homeless coalition. That was always sad.
