Anyone tried to book DVC for Jan 1 in the past few days?

I just realized that if we flew in on Jan 1 instead of Jan 2 we could save a ton of money, so I was thinking of modifying our reservation to include Jan 1. The problem is that of course I had this thought 30 min after guest services closed. So I can't check on availability! I was hoping to get Jan 1 at VWL, deluxe studio. Just curious if anyone had tried to book a Jan 1 reservation and noticed that everything was sold out, or that there was plenty of availability. Long shot, I know. But I'm worried the cheaper tickets won't be available tomorrow.

I'm wondering if most people leave to go home on the 1st or stay another night. Jan 1st is a Sunday this year.

It is possible that it will be a big checkout day, but at this point it can possibly still be tough to get. You can always wait list something for points, and book a room elsewhere for the night using cash. Then if the waitlist comes through you just can cancel.
