Definately knock offs. Much like the costumes you see on the Vegas Strip. You can buy the costumes on ebay that look identical.

Why are people declaring Disney had no part in this? Was there really any question?

The only worthy discussion you could have about this would be ppolitical...

hahaha you are joking right :p

Not joking -- sometimes truth is stranger than fiction! The trying-to-sneak-into-Japan incident is widely believed to have contributed (along with other things, of course) to Kim Jong-nam's being passed over for succession of the North Korean leadership.

Wikipedia has a decent summary of the incident.

Really? This is North Korea we're talking about here and some of you people are wondering if Disney provided them with the licensees to use their characters? Wow. Just wow.

I read about it in the German media today as well - and there they actually cited a Disney spokesperson who said that the event was not licensed or authorised by Disney. They were also talking about a mysterious woman accompanying the dictator...

ABC News (owned by Disney) did a piece on this story last night. They verified that it was knock-off costumes and unauthorized by Disney.

Now that is interesting. I wonder if they were Disney "licensed" or knock offs considering the ties with China. Not sure given the current state of relations that TDC could have actually provided the costumes?

They are the usual knockoffs you see at 3rd rate parks around the world.
