Anyone like Marrakesh?

Not gone in the past year, but I've gone. It would not be my restaurant of choice, but that's more a factor that Moroccan food is not my food of choice, but I certainly did not regret going. Food was good, portions were generous, entertainment was delightful. We wound up going on a whim, no reservations, party of 2, we were seated within 5 minutes. As I said I don't think I'd plan on going if I'm making all the plans on a trip, but if I were with someone who wanted to go, I'd go in a heartbeat, no complaints.

Thanks, Slappy Magoo: seems like Marrakesh is one of the few TS places guests can visit on a whim....and probably why they're the only restaurant I can still reserve on the late show CP package. Appreciate your opinion.

My husband and I ate there 8 mos ago in February and we both liked it. I loved the chicken and veggies and coucous but didn't care for lamb, but he really liked it. The mint tea is delish, and he enjoyed the moroccan beer;)

Same here. Ate there this past April and thought the food was very bland. We had the chicken couscous and the couscous m'rouzia and neither were particularly good, especially for the price tag. The couscous m'rouzia was the more interesting of the two, what with the plum and beef tastes clashing together, but as neither meal comes with any side items, we got tired of them both very quickly. The interior of the restaurant is also quite ordinary, especially if you're the kind of person who likes the over-the-top theatrical presentation of something like San Angel Inn or Biergarten.

We won't be going back.

If you're wanting Marrakesh, I'd highly recommend you go to Tangierene Cafe and take your food to the outside eating areas.
It's more interesting food, greater variety (especially if you get any of the shawrama or vegetarian platters), better ambiance, and all for a fraction of the cost.
Use the money you save to buy some German beers and some desert pastries or gelatos from elsewhere in the showcase. Haven't eaten at Spice Road Table yet, though.

Thanks, Bairstow! Tangierene gets great reviews...a good suggestion. I will try them for lunch one day. But for this trip, I'm only doing the Epcot TS as part of the CP package and TC isn't a choice in that package. San Angel would be great, but they're booked up that night. The only restaurant I won't consider is Biergarten...no offense meant to anyone who enjoys it - I know it's one of the most popular and people really love it. I just hate buffet style and neither of us really care for German food.

In February we ate at all three: Spice Road, Marrakesh, Tangerine Cafe (on different days, of course!).

Spice Road: The food was tasty but the value was VERY poor. I like "small plates" type dining, but not when the small plates are each priced that high.

Marrakesh: We went for Valentine's Day and greatly enjoyed it. I had one of the feasts (I forget which one), so there was a soup, an appetizer, an entree and dessert. Mr. CBs had some kind of chicken and only ordered the entree, but my feast, while officially for one person, was more than enough to share so he got to try everything as well. Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable, especially for Disney. As I recall, Mr.CBs enjoyed his chicken but the real fun was in trying many different things, so my meal was the winner.

Tangerine Cafe: We liked it so much that we ate there twice. Very generous portions and much less expensive (since its QS instead of table service). You could certainly eat here instead of doing a sit-down at Marrakesh and still have a great meal, but if Marrakesh is part of a CP package that you want, don't be afraid to give it a try.

So glad you enjoyed! Thank you for sharing the details of your meal...that feast sounds interesting. Hitting all three Morrocan eateries in one month...impressive!

Eaten there 3 times and never had a good meal. Food has been horrible every time. The entertainment is nice and they also offer wine by the carafe which I think is the only restaurant in WDW to do so.

I like wine by the carafe! (And by the glass and by the bottle...) but I digress. You certainly kept an open mind to try them 3 diff times...I probably would have bailed after the first time if I were disappointed. Thank you for commenting.

I like their beef couscous. They have a spicier red pepper based sauce you can ask for that is really yummy with the couscous.

Thank you....that is good to know if I go. This is exactly what I'll ask for, since most of the negative comments all mention "bland" . M is probably trying to please a variety of palettes and not get too adventurous. But I definitely like spice and heat...so maybe that might help.

I really liked the couscous m'rouzia a lot! With that said, to the OP, if your party is adventurous and likes different ethnic foods, I would definitely go for Marrakesh.

Thanks, Courtney6682...heard good things about the mint tea - both iced and hot. Did the lamb taste gamey or seasoned in a way that was unappealing...or do you just not like that meat in general?

Happy to help! I have a few pictures and details of our Marrakesh experience in my trip report if you want more specifics like menu item names, just scroll through to February 14th.

Eaten there a few times, liked the food. Highly recommend the tea service. I do suggest not getting the "for two" platters on the CP package. Doing so counts as the entitlement for 2 members of your party, and I thought it was no larger than a single person portion.

Thanks CheshireCat12...we're pretty adventurous...so probably will give it a shot. At least a few folks on this thread enjoyed it...so that's encouraging. Think I'm going to look into that spicy red sauce jaklgreen mentioned!

I was wondering about that when several people mentioned the "for two" choices...thanks so much for pointing that out. Maybe we'll opt for a "dessert for two" if they offer that...we're not big dessert eaters unless there are some amazing options. But I only noticed a couple of baklava/pastry type things on the menu.

had dinner in June, 2014, 4 adults (some vegetarian, some omnivore) and 2 children. We all enjoyed the food, which included some appetizers, entrees, deserts, beverages. I enjoyed the beef and plum couscous entree (though what I really loved was the Berber Feast i had in 2012 for lunch). Enjoyed the fruit and mint ice cream desert, baklava, and Moroccan tea. Had good service from servers and the friendly manager who came around checking on all the guests.

Live music is quite nice, relaxing and in character with the setting, and belly dancer got the kids up to dance along for a couple minutes, which was cute and fun. Others have commented on the relatively plain decor, but i think it is charming, with an understated elegance. To me, the whole experience was a charming, relaxing break from the norm, and very refreshing after being on the go all day in the park. Caveat, I am pretty much a novice at Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, but I like trying new things, especially on vacation.

First visit was in 2012, w/o booking a reservation, was able to seat party of 4 for lunch (immediately after opening, easy to get seated). Had the Berber Feast and loved it so much I practically insisted on returning in 2014. If we are back to WDW in 2016 I will be tempted to return for lunch, but in the interest of trying new things may give it a break, or just do quick service in Morocco. I hope the OP will update this thread w/ a report! cheers

DFP I will report back...thanks for such a positive review! I was so close to canceling until I read some of the positive comments here, including yours. That encouraged me to keep it. We are still scheduled for the Candlelight Processional package in Dec. I've been checking for Via Napoli and San Angel, but only because we love good Italian and San Angel is such a beautiful environment. But I keep telling myself we have no shortage of Italian and Mexican places within a few miles of us....we should try something different. So I still have the ressie! I will definitely report back. My only concern is so many comments around "bland". I do like spicy food, so hopefully they have that spicy sauce upon requested that someone here mentioned.
