If you haven't noticed, Disney has a celebration every other year...

October 1, 1996- January 31, 1998 (25th Anniversary)

October 1, 1999-December 31, 2000 (Disney's Millenium)

October 1, 2001-December 31, 2002 (Walt's 100th)

October 1, 2003-December 31, 2004 (?????)

That was all coincidence.

And the 100 yrs of Magic started in 2001, but I guess so did the millenium celebration. Still, Walt's 100th was officially in 2001. oh well, I dont know. If they dont have anything obvious to celebrate, I doubt they will do anything. I just hope they do Epcot's 25th in 2007. Hey, did anyone realize it is Epcot's 20th this year?

Why yes, I did, on the first page of this thread! ;)

In fact, if they do choose to recognize it, it will start in October. I don't know if it will be a "big" celebration or not, but I hope they at least print up a t-shirt or something when Mission: Space opens. They certainly recognized the Magic Kingdom's 20th (15th too!)

Epcot's my favorite park!:sohappy:

I am sure there will be merchandise for it. I have seen merchandising with WDW's 30th this year, even though it wasnt as recognized.

It's possible that we may have overlooked something obvious. Somewhere between October 1st, 1982, and October 24th (Opening Ceremonies), 1982, Epcot center opened it's doors to the public. So therefore, starting in October 2002, we could see the kickoff to a 20-year anniversary celebration for Epcot Center.

And what better way to market it than an entirely new experience that continues the Epcot tradition,

Mission: Space!!

They may wait until M:S is ready to go but I expect at least a little fanfare celebrating 20 years of educational fun.
They have put a couple of items out for sale to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of EPCOT, but I doubt that you will see a full blown celebration. Though, I wouldn't put it past Disney.

I dunno what they could come up wiht for next year, they might do what they did for the most part of 2001 and come up with a slogan like the "4 parks 1 world" they had a lot of pins, posters and merchandise for that.

They wont be celebrating the 30th anniversary cos it was in 2001, as it was 5 years since the 25th and someone came up with making cinderellas castle a pink birthday cake and covered it in 25 candles.

And if anyone saw that then how can they complain about the wand thing at EPCOT ?!?!? The people in the lagoon resorts must have been real annoyed having to look out on a big pink monstrosity.

The Castle Cake did have one pro...afterwards, the Castle got much better detail work and it got that amazing lighting effect at night where it changes colors...which we ALL love (for good reason...it's the kewlest ever!)
