They just released pics of the Halloween party pins yesterday, so yes, it is still too early.
They changed the format for this year's MNSSSHP pins - now they're only doing one for each week. It'll be interesting to see if the Christmas party follows the same. It's a great idea as those pins sit around forever, weeks and weeks after the event is over.

You can buy them the night of the event. This is WDW, free is not an option

As an Event guest, you are entitled to buy the Event pins for the night/week you are there, as well as any remaining pins from previous nights that were left over. After the Events are over, the remaining pins are then sold at Uptown Jewelers and anyone can purchase them. They are just an added merchandise item to the hard ticket events, but it's a nice momento. Most run abour $8.95 due to the fact that they are limited edition and have pin-on-pin 3D elements.

Dizpins is a great resource for new pin release. It's usually easier to navigate than the official page.
Pins are sold to Party guests only. You can buy the pin from THAT night and any pin leftover from previous nights but NOT ones from nights yet to come. IF at the end of the event, there are pins left over, they are put on sold first-come, first-only to any regular day guest.
Previous years it was a unique pin per day (night) but this year it's unique pin per week.
