Hmmm...

I auditioned in 2002 and 2003, so things might have changed a bit. From my understanding they've adjusted to going more on "look-based" audition because they have more places to fill.

You wait in line, fill out the audition sheet and turn that in. If I remember correctly, you then wait in the hallway at Human Resources before being brought into the rehearsal room in a group of 10 or 20 (don't remember exactly). Through members of the production team are sitting in at a table in front of you. They tell you some of the production aspects (if it's been announced, the theme for the year and some house) and then they start the audition. One by one, you stand in the center of the room and "perform." The first year, we had to come up with a creative way to die and then act it out. We also had to "scare" another person in the group while they their back to us. The second year we just had to act like a zombie or vampire.

The "acting" segment actually fits into a specific house or street that they are casting for.

After that, you wait outside the rehearsal room to find out if you got a part. Sometimes, they'll bring people back in to talk about specific roles (I actually auditioned with a blind person one year who ended up getting cast in Port of Evil... they brought him back in to talk to him). You won't find out what part you are, or even if you are house or street, until orientation. The only people who will know what they are are people who end up on the chainsaws. Afterwards, you complete the employment paperwork and choose a day for your orientation.

And you did a good job of describing the audition. Hasn't really changed. Wear nice jeans & a nice shirt, but don't over dress. Bring a headshot if you have one. Smile a lot. Keep eye contact. Good to go. That's worked for me for 5 years.

I'm hoping I get the chance to go this year. I went in '04 & '05 and had a terrible time due to lack of planning/organizing with the large groups I went with. I learned my lesson. I'll be going with people I can actually agree with next time!

Unless Universal Creative is playing it smart and using an extreme form of misdirection right now (which I would love to see), the website is hinting at a psychiatrists. Granted, I was thinking that Universal could be using a patient who has been driven insane by the good doctors treatments, but I could also see how Bloody Mary or the Boogyman can be "unleashed" as a result of immersion therapy.
