We were there for my son's 4th birthday. He wore the birthday pin he had just received that day from the MK. Anyway, the server brought out a cupcake. I think the server and another server sang happy birthday to him. It was pretty underwhelming, and I'm glad I had not gotten my son all jazzed about it.

No one at the MK wished him a happy birthday that day, either. Mousekeeping neglected to leave a card in the room for him, despite a note on my original reservation. These last two items had also occurred the previous year, when we were there for his 3rd birthday.

You may have read here, on other sites, or in guidebooks that birthdays are! very! special! at WDW. This is not always so.

CMs are not nessisarily obligated to make birthdays very! special! Sometimes they are just having a hard day, sometimes they don't see the birthday button. So, if you go in to a situation not expecting anything, and if you do end up with something, you'll always be happy.

That being said, you can guarantee that there's a cake at any Disney resturant by calling a certain number. The cake runs around $10, If i remember correctly. I don't have the number on hand, but the nice folks at Disney Dining can give it to you.

If you choose not to order the extra cake, there is always the good chance of getting a cupcake, extra dessert, or birthday song, but remember it's still a chance. Nothing is guaranteed.

Personally, I say go for it without the extra cake. There's so much to eat there for dessert anyways! Or try one of the other dining options around the world! Chef Mickey's is great, but perhaps you'll get more personal service at a sit-down place? I dunno. Either way, hope they have a magical birthday!

Chef Mickey's is fun for B-days - but not the most special as it's kind of a given b/c everyone sings the Mickey Birthday song - about 10x's while you're there...

I'd say pick a different restaurant and order a cake...

and as for helping the CM's along in celebrating a birthday - always leave a note (& tip doesn't hurt) for the Mousekeeping... they're sure to pay attention if it is brought to their attention... they don't exactly sit around reading everyone's reservation notes...

Also while in the parks - (I saw this the other day and had a great laugh) if your child is too young to read - make up a t-shirt (for yourself) to wear that says I'm with the birthday boy - Luke is 3 today! - It was so cute and the little boy was so amazed that everyone knew his name and said happy birthday! :) It was really fun to watch...

back to the restaurants though - always order the cake... it's worth it!

Found the cake number!

The T shirt idea, reminded me of a family I saw in the MK one day. Both the mom and dad had shirts that proclaimed that it was their son's birthday. And the birthday boy, had his own special shirt. He got a lot of birthday wishes because of it. And don't forget that giant cake hat you can buy. Nothing shouts to the world that it's your birthday like a 2 foot tall cake on your head!

I was taken to the Liberty Tree for dinner on my Birthday and my friend surprised me with the cake. It was delicious!!! :slurp:

It was chocolate fudge with chocolate frosting and extra chocolate on top of some chocolate stuff with extra chocolate!

It was awesome and we could barely finish it, as that is one of my favorite meals in all of WDW! Our server brought it over with Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto and posed for pictures with us.

It was great!

:sohappy:

We ate there for my cousin Caitie's second birthday. She slept most of the time, but I'm pretty sure she had the birthday placemat and a cupcake.

This one girl kept getting cupcake after cupcake each time the twirling napkins portion of the dinner began tonight. She probably had four cupcakes on the table before they left.

The number to call to order a cake at a table service location is (407) 824-2165. You can purchase a 6" inch cake at the resturant, but it is required to call that number 48-hours in advance to order anything larger. You'll receive a choice of options for the cake (frosting, filling, etc.)

I had dinner last summer at Chef Mickey's for my birthday. I received a cupcake and song. It was nice. You may already know this but get the "Today is my B-day" pin from whatever park(s) you visit that day.(At MK-Town Hall.) I turned 38 and at first I felt a little foolish but you will be surprised how many people, young and old, say, sing and yell "Happy B-day". After a while you forget you are wearing it. The pins will make nice keepsakes .
