Anyone Fly down and rent a car to drive back?

We have our first leg of the trip covered - air fair from BOS to MCO $110 a person/4 people. [11/18]

It was cheaper/same as driving down and saves 2 days of travel.

The 2nd leg is way over $250 a person [11/24]. We can rent a car from Orlando to Boston for like $170 for two days, unlimited miles, plus gas $200, hotel for night $100. All in all it would be half the price to drive back.

Has anyone else done this?

Keep in mind I used to live in JAX, FL and know how to get to Upstate NY in under 2 days with one overnight stop. If we leave hotel by 10am we could be half way by 10 at night [Sat] to be home next day [Sunday].

You rent it one way - ah duh....pick up Orlando - drop off Boston

You can rent cars from most companies one-way. They generally charge a much higher daily rate than a round trip rental, but in some cases, the math still works out in your favor.

Wow. I scoured the 'net thinking there must still be something out there for you, but it really is crazy expensive! Makes me even more appreciative that I paid relatively normal prices for my flights on the 22nd and 25th. I guess you're driving!

We just got another snaffu in the mix. My 13 yr old is in her 2nd year of cheer and 1st year in competition. This past weekend was just a "fun comp" tgo give them practice for the real thing. Ahh they placed first and
Local Comp here in MA is Oct 20. If they place, regionals is Nov 24. In order for us to get back in time, we have to fly back either Thanksgiving night or Friday the 23rd.

No choice - our daughter comes first. Maybe that's why I haven't secured second flight.

Totally do it! You could even get adventurous and do the drive back in a night! For some reason, we always book rooms there and back when driving but never use the booked room on the drive back (PS with Priceline you cannot cancel!) Wish we could find one way tickets for $110 pp from IND, CVG, or Lousiville!!!

How many drivers do you have? It's only like 23 hours if you don't stop... Although that depends on who you ask. I know my GPS says we're like 18 hours away and Google Maps says 20. We've done the nonstop drive from Buffalo and it wasn't terrible.

Thanks I used to drive from Jacksonville to Albany, NY all the time as we used to live in Jax. With the new cheer comp issues - we may be paying a lot to get home! Stay tuned!
