My family always seems to fly Spirit to Disney World. ACY is so easy to get in and out of. We leave on the early flight. Our routine is to stop at the super Wawa right near the "airport" road. We stop and get some coffee and candy for the plane ride to and fro, since MCO (Orlando International Airport) does not sell gum. Then the drive to the Airport itself is filled with excitement. Then when you see the giant 747 you know you are at the right place. The people at ACY are really nice and helpful. Since Spirit is the major carrier at ACY and they only have about 2 flights out a morning its very quiet. So we then take our breakfast (purchsed a few minutes prior at Wawa) to the dining area on the second floor, and watch our plane get ready and the sun rise. By the time we finish its almost time to board. Boarding with Spirit takes no time, since they dont sell out most flights.
The parking is also very safe and inexpensive (boo hoo hoo, it used to be free).
Spirit Air also just added Spirit Plus on my last trip (we got to be the test group (twice!)). Its very nice, plush leater seats and more leg room. You also get a little meal, it is a box with cheese, crackers, macidamia nuts, candy, rasins, and a few other things. (your seats also recline more in Spirit Plus. I say its well worth the extra 40 dollars.
Also, if you get the chance to be bumped in Orlando (like we were). Its worth it for the free round trip tickets they give you. (I guess it pays to arrive late, thanks to Mears) They put you up in AmeriSuites near the air port (its near no attractions, so dont expect anything special. The rooms are Ok, but after two weeks at the Wilderness Lodge we were not thrilled. The staff was nice, and the driver of the van was happy to take us back to the air port for dinner (we used the meal voucher they gave us) and we ate at Chilies in the air port and looked at the Disney World and Universal stores. Then we went back and I was supperised that they had the disney World channel playing.
Well I know I gave you way more tehn you asked for, and I know you posted this a while ago, but I figured it might help someone.
The best deals I get are online at Spirit's web site
http://www.spiritair.com . They offer discounts about a month before the flight, so it might help to book the flight last, adn the e-tickets save time and are cheaper.
good luck with your trip, and remeber gum is not for sale at DIsney World or the Orlando International Airport (I think that store at the Orlando airport, W. Smith, could make some more money if they sold gum).
