Anyone ever fly into Tampa? So much cheaper!

I usually always fly in and out of Sanford with my family, Allegiant provides sweet nonstop flights the whole way down. The drive may be a little longer, but worth it to not have to deal with crazy security :)

I've picked up friends who have flown into Sanford with substantial savings over MCO or TIA. I think it all depends on your situation but it's certainly worth looking into any time. Of course, my transport to Disney was "complementary" so you certainly have to weigh everything in making a call.

We flew into Orlando on Saturday 7/25 at about 4:00 PM EDT from Chicago. On the way to baggage claim I saw the hundreds of people in the TSA lines headed for departure. I don't know how long the wait actually was, but it was serious congestion.

On Saturday, August 1, we flew out of Tampa, arriving at approximately 3:00 PM EDT. There were no people in front of us at the Sky Cap. We got on the tram with no problem and while I've experienced some waiting at the TSA lines in Tampa this time there were none. Dropped off the rental car, checked our bags, went through TSA and were at the gate in under 40 minutes. Can't to that in Orlando. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed by 3 hours, but you get the idea.

How much cheaper was it? I am considering doing Disney in November next year instead of September I would like to visit my Dh grandparents who live in LARGO near Tampa. Thanks

For us it is $400 dollars cheaper to fly into Orlando than Tampa plus the Tampa flight arrives in Tampa an hour later than the Orlando flight and we would have to rent a car so Orlando is much cheaper and time effective.
