Anyone else upset about the demolition of mickey's house?

I loved Mickey & Minnie's houses, and was surprised at the decision to remove them. I love the expansion, but I thought there would be a place for them since they were iconic. At least, in my eyes they were. I'm a little sad that DD will never get to see them.

I agree. The thought that they would just tear the house down without the thought of putting it somewhere else made me sick.

They should have moved it to the backlot of DHS and changed it to Look like the characters were filming new episodes of a tv show from their house. Like hgtv disney.

Minnie could have a cooking show, goofy could be a carpenter- wackiness ensues. Donald could have a fishing show- with water features. And Mickey Would be the boss- welcoming people to the working studio and letting people film shorts infront of green screens.

This whole thing would be interactive and a money maker. People would buy DVDs of their kids acting with the characters. Minnie could have a studio audience like Emeril did.

Oh the possibilities.

I don't know why they couldn't have found a way to incorporate it into the expansion.

Really! Its Mickeys house! :P

Yeah...I wish they'd demo the hideous Speedway and build a proper Toontown with a dark ride or two...it could still work with Storybook Circus nearby.

Too bad TDO doesn't seem to care about giving Mickey a proper place to stay.

I agree with bringing back Toontown to WDW in some capacity -- in DHS would be fine and would help make that park more kid friendly. But MK seems like the ideal place. And I hope they would do a better job of it than the previous incarnation.

If TDO were inclined, they could easily set it up north of LM/BatB with the entrance path being the walkway between LM and the new circus tents. This would be similar to how Toontown is set up in DL with one entrance off Fantasyland. There is plenty of room there, within the berm of the railroad tracks. Hypothetically, they could even add a railroad stop, but it would be kind of close to the (now) Fantasyland one.

Also, I'd like to see them include Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin if they ever brought Toontown back. It's a nice little ride.

They should have kept the houses from Toontown and move the whole land to Hollywood Studios and call it the Disney Beverly Hills where the Disney stars live!! I am thinking of this as I am typing and that would be a great because they could keep the houses and make it more of a Hollywood Theme!!

There are a lot of people upset about the removal and demolition of the houses. It made zero sense. There are many places in WDW that they could have put them. The decision could not possibly have been anything other than a snub to the fans. There seems to be no real solid reason they did what they did other than to remind people who runs the parks. From the first moment they announced the idea of removing the houses they were slammed with requests to move them elsewhere, but they ignored everyone and just busted them up and tossed them out. I would have preferred seeing them moved to another part of one of the parks.

I am pretty surprised so many people are upset about losing ToonTown. It sounds like my friends and I are in the minority, but we were thrilled to hear they were finally replacing it (20 years after they were supposed to...) I know it was popular with small children, but I never understood how something so cheesy and toonish could be plopped into the otherwise gorgeous and majestic Magic Kingdom. But just my opinion...

Yes, I was also sad to see Toontown go. I loved it and thought it was well done for something that was supposed to be temporary. I would have preferred a new "real" Toontown instead of Storybook Circus and was, quite frankly, baffled that they didn't do that.

I can see why TDO chose to expand Dumbo, since it's such an iconic and popular ride. (Although I still don't get the name for it; what does "Storybook" refer to, exactly?) And as for Toontown...it was just an empty shell of what it could have been. Just a lot of admittedly cute houses you could walk through, nothing more.

What does TDO stand for?

No, I'm not sad, because we're getting a vastly improved Fantasyland, and something that is TOTALLY unique to the Magic Kingdom!

I would have liked to have had Mickey and Minnies houses along with Donald's boat to be part of the new Fantasyland. I used to take pictures of my children each year in those houses. Photo ops are nice, and they don't always have to be character pictures. Bring them back. Things don't have to be so spread out.
