Anyone else miss the unedited version of The Tiki Room? (And Maybe Country Bears?)

I am a huge fan of The Enchanted Tiki Room. Unfortunately, even though I'm paying full price for an admission ticket, I can't see the full version of Walt Disney's show. To me, this translates paying full price at a movie theater, only to have 30 min of the movie cut. I'm very familiar with the unedited soundtrack and it's always a letdown to see the show in person because of the cuts.

Here is the full uncut 17:34 soundtrack and what has been cut:
2:33-2:54
3:28-6:23
7:15-7:41
8:56-10:19(Still at Disneyland)
11:34-11:56(Still at Disneyland)

I don't know about anyone else, but these edits borderline ruin the show for me. I'm not familiar at all with Country Bears but know that edits have recently been made to that show as well. Is it as butchered at the Tiki Room is? I'd love to know.

DL's is way better without question. For one thing the AA's actually work, and the fountain. But there's still a lot missing.

True, but I'm happy with it. There are very few things that have stayed perfectly intact at Disneyland, if there are any at all. The only thing I can think of that still looks as it did years and years ago is Market House on Main Street, and that's about to get turned into Starbucks.

I think I would lean more towards wanting the original Tiki Room if I had to see the MK version all the time.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I don't like the changes, but they're an inevitability. People today can't sit still for the full duration of those shows, and it's not like money is being made while people on in an attraction, so they wanna keep them moving! Even if it means that the show won't make any sense anymore.

I never saw the unedited version of the show. However, I think that they should have put it back when the show was updated. I liked the "Under new management" it was funny and I like Iago. However, I know how it feels when beloved things are butchered with annoying characters for the heck of it. And now that I am more into the Polynesian culture and have always preferred classic Disney, I appreciate the new version more and am Glad Disney chose to take it back to the origins.

That being said, every time I go, there is never a big crowd. Yes, it looks like a lot of people when you are standing in a line to go in, but once everyone fills out, there are dozens of empty seats. So it is not like the show has to cater to an overflow of traffic. Most likely only the true diehards go all the time; so why not make the show for the true diehards?

Either way, I think bringing the show back to its roots is a first step. They could have brought Iago and Zazoo back for the update but didn't so someone gets it and that's a start.

The Tiki Room edits are awkward withut a doubt. But what they did to CBJ is inexcusable. The shortened show there destroys all character develoment and turns what used to be a Marc Davis masterpiece into a Chuck-E-Cheese wannabe. Another reason for long-time visitors not to return. It's literally too painful to watch.

CBJ was Florida's "Tiki Room" and should have been treated with more respect. But we all know WDW management is dead set on destroying every last bit of classic WDW.

Not that I have strong feelings on the subject. :)

The Tiki Room... I remember really really wanting to see the original show so I was one of those "I'm all for bringing the original back!"...... I take that back. It's really, really boring. The Zazu and Iago version was at least easy to laugh at (the attraction itself >_>). This is like a break out of the heat attraction now. Very. Very boring. But that's just MY opinion! I know it's a huge deal for being the first AA show and all that stuff. But I'd rather just keep that in the record books.

The Countrry Bears, I love this show to death!! And I actually do think that some of the cuts were better. The only one I disapprove of is the cut of the first scene with Wendel. Now nobody even knows his name. The rest is fine. They took out the scenes that made it drag a little, making the show get bad reviews from tourists who get bored easily. The cuts in my opinion are fine with me, it keeps the show rolling. I love the new costumes, I get a good chuckle out of it! c:

Now I think they should bring the seasonal shows back !!

Country Bears...YES. If you watch Max, Buff and Melvin during the show, there mouths will still move during times when they used to say something but because they shortened the show, some other bear is singing. So it was not only shortened, they didn't modify some of the old animatronics. Not only did they shorten the show, they also no longer have The Country Bear Christmas Special (winter show) and The Country Bear Vacation Hoedown (summer show) version of the show which was really nice to provide variety at different times of the year.
Here's the Christmas Special:

and here's the Vacation Hoedown:

How many attractions have you been on that have had three different shows throughout the year?

I prefer Disneyland's fountain-having version of the Tiki Room to the one in Florida, but I'm also just fine with the current version of the Country Bears. I don't feel like the excised material added all that much, and the revised animation, particularly with the mounted animal heads, is an improvement.

I was never a fan of either the Christmas or Vacation variant shows for the Country Bears, but I wouldn't be opposed to their trying another alternate show. When O Brother Where Art Thou came out and went 8X platinum I was sort of hoping they would try a version of the show that went more classic roots music and more southern, or even bluegrass. Maybe they still can one day.

I miss the extended conversations between Buff, Max and Melvin. And I STILL miss walking out of the show and seeing them again at the Mile Long Bar:

And uh...the Tiki Room is boring? Seriously? The show lasts for what, not even 15 minutes? The heck? And you're BORED? With everything that's going on during it, including a thunderstorm? You people are overstimulated or something. Plus it's a pleasant oasis during a hot day. I'm glad it's there and I hope it never goes away.
