I haven't yet, but I will be trying it one month from tomorrow. I'll be @ POR, so I thought it sounded like a great way to relax close to the room. I've read good reviews, and you can find recent menus all over the place. I can give you a review next month if that helps :)

Everything at Boatwrights is decent -- its not a quiet place to eat since everything there seems to echo and its walls are open to the adjoining corridor, and its not much to speak of, a big open-air room with some boatcraft theming, but the food is good, and certainly a decent value. You will enjoy your dinner there, and its a good plan. You can then take a nice walk back to POFQ along the river (about a 10-minute walk, its not all that far between resorts) or take the boat down to DTD and back -- there is nothing that I find more relaxing than taking the boat down to DTD and then taking it back again, especially after dark. You can also just take the boat back to POFQ.

Well, a few years back while staying at PORS, we ate there our 1st night. it was kinda "lukewarm" at best and the service was not very good. No one was there and we had an ADR, but still had to wait 15 minutes. Off night I guess.:(

It's earned hidden gem status for us. We were floored by how the food exceeded our expectations two visits ago. So much so that we made it a point to return on our last visit. Everything we've had there has been delicious. You're sure to find the good food and relaxing evening that you're looking for in Boatwright's.

I've stayed there when the food was good...used to get the Jambalaya...nice portion..but then, the last couple of times I stayed...it wasn't as good...I hope someone will take notice and change that

I agree with everything you posted especially that boat ride to DTD. Boatwright is decent but no Bonfamille's Cafe that was in the Lobby of the French Quarter. There food was first class and if Disney had to close one TS restaurant they closed the wrong one and likely did so because the FC sister resort at the time was closed while attendance tumbled after 9/11. http://www.portorleans.org/images/Bonfamilles Menu 1995.pdf
Miss that place, a lot.

We have ate on and off at Boatwright when we've stayed at both Dixie/POR. It was always luke warm however I've never found the staff on a whole to be nice, often the host counter down right rude. Once my DD and I came back from parks, rain, wet, stopped in after dry to see if we could eat, no. Nothing rest of night.
We could see tables and nobody waiting. Went to lobby to see what else was available else where, Boatwright was the first to pop up. Kinda summed up the staff.

Ok.To give you my sensible answer.I see your staying at FQ ( excellent ) but looking to dine at night and have a relaxing time. Therefore your not enquiring about breakfast.Boatwrights in my opinion has improved a lot since our first encounter in 2008. We dined last year and did not have to book ADR in advance. ( we were staying at RS for 14 nights ) The atmosphere is laid back, not noisy, service was really good, and all our meals were very good.Infact it was way better than we were expecting,a very pleasant evening.;)

We're also trying it our 1st night there. Even if there's a bit of a wait, I think it's the best plan for the 1st night b/c I know we'll be exhausted. Have a very early morning flight, then hitting MK on arrival for a few hours. Once we get back to POR, I'm sure we'll be in for the night, so I like the idea of a TS for dinner. I hope we have better than "lukewarm" though--there are too many good restaurants in WDW to waste a dinner that way!

I have read about this before from other people too. What's up with that? Do they not WANT customers?

And another time we went there for breakfast, the kids were going to go swimming right after Boatwright. We brought our empty refillable mugs down with us so we could grab some drinks before heading to the pool.

Snarky greeting from the server when she approached the table was 'I was going to ask if you wanted something to drink but see you brought your own beverages into the restaurant,' in the most obnoxious tone.
