Anyone been Labor Day week?

We will be travelling Sat. Sept. 5- 12. So the weekend prior to Labor Day through the week. I know it is supposed to be one of the least crowded times of the year to travel!

I have subscribed to TouringPlans.com, but do you think I'll need to use the plans on the site? Do you think we'll have any issues doing what we want to do? I don't want to overplan and have wasted time if it's not necessary, but I also don't want to be unprepared.

Any ideas what I should expect that week?

The last three years we have gone beginning the Sunday before Labor Day and for ten full days. Unforunately, this year, due to when Labor Day falls and my husband's work schedule, we had to postpone our trip until September 20-29 (although now we'll be there for the F&W which we've never been to). We love the Labor Day week time...the crowds have been very manageable (except for dining because this is usually free dining time so the restaurants are always crowded). But we never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes for most rides and only 20 minutes for the big rides. The weather is hot--95 and humid--but DH and I like the weather and always break up our day by going back to the resort for or after lunch and spend time in the pool, etc.

In all of our 20+ trips to Disney, we have NEVER used a touring guide, and we have never had a problem getting done what we wanted to do.

Awesome! I want to prepared since we will have our 2 young kiddos with us, but I don't want to stress myself out about it. I guess first priority should be figuring out where we want to eat and get reservations. Sound right?

I agree with SchultzFamily the past 4 times we have gone have all been in Sept and never had a problem with the lines for the rides. And yes the weather is hot but if you have young kids I suggest going back in the afternoon and resting. This worked really well for us.

As others have said, the crowds will be fairly light at that time of year. That being said, you probably won't need to use the Unofficial Guide's touring plans to any great extent. Generally they're only needed in the extremely busy times of the year, and just going with the flow will prove to work out well during the less busy times. However, I may still do a little bit of the touring plans, such as the part to be sure you're there at park opening and do the big attractions first. After that, you can do basically whatever you feel like as nothing else should be busy. We usually do this during our trips in January and can leave the park by around 1 or 2 and be poolside by 3. It works out well for us.
