I just wanted to know if anyone staying at Caribbean Beach Resort during the rehab has been contacted, yet. Please, let us know so that we will know what to expect. Thanks!

Going by what's been said before.

Due to certain circumstances...blah...blah...blah, Carribean Beach will be closed DATE until DATE. You can change your reservation to another moderate resort at no charge or upgrade for a slight price. We're sorry to inconvience you and hope you enjoy your stay at NEW RESORT and at WDW.

Note: You could call and cancel your reservation and change to another resort. However you may get a better deal if you wait until they call and see if you can upgrade to a better resort.

I'm waiting for "The PHONE CALL" also. Our reservations were at the CBR for September 6th thru the 10th.

I want an upgrade to a DELUXE for the inconvience, if we don't get upgraded we are going to cancel.

Yes, we are angry, but we understand also. We welcome the remodeling so that it will only make WDW better. It's just the fact of researching and then picking the CBR, only to be kicked out (so to speak) left high and dry to make another choice. This was something that we thought out and planned, only to be thrown a curve ball now, and with only 31 days left before we are scheduled to go. :fork:

As soon as I get the dreaded PHONE CALL, I'll post something. ;)

We are doing the exact same thing. Only through our travel agent. We want to get AKL or Poly. It is a hassle. We had Caribbean clothes bought for our son. We had bought CBR mugs on Ebay, and basically planned everything around the resort. It's awful late in the year to make this sudden change, and I feel an upgrade is reasonable.

Yep, I completely understand Spider-Man. It's just terrible, but hopefully there will be a major benefit coming out of all this. We haven't decided which deluxe we would choose yet. We sorta want to stay with the beach theme, so therefore I've narrowed it down to either the Poly, the Boardwalk, or the Yacht & Beach Club.

We'll see what happens and pray that it works out for everyone's benefit that has to switch resorts!

I see you're from NC too! Hello neighbor!

OK, I have a real authenticated scoop on the delas available for CBR room reservation holders. I just got off the phone with CRO and spoke to a wonderful supervisor there named Wednesday. She suggested everyone affected call in and try to get their rooms adjusted ASAP so they could make sure all the deals are available.

Here is what she had to offer:

#1 - Stay at any moderate resort for the same price

#2 - Check other specials. For us, we had booked a tentative room at the Wilderness Lodge just in case. We had it booked under a stnadard room for $1936 for 2 rooms/8 nights. She was able to move us to a woods view for the same price as our CBR reservation ($1581).

So, call now and look at every option. I did not check anything else as this was our first choice, but I am sure other Deluxes are available, my guess specifically would be AKL and Polynesian, but it will depend on your dates.

Good Luck!!!

Number for CRO is (407)WDISNEY

Hey, I just got my Call!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got Svannah View at AKL for $140 a night. Standard was at $110 or $100 (I think). They are calling travel agents first, then people who booked on their own starting with oldest Ressies to newest. For $140, I think we did good to get Savannah view. They said only a few of these were available.

Hate to bust your bubble spidey, but $140 for the savannah room doesn't sound all that great. The AP rate I could have gotten at AKL was the same. Not really a deal so to speak. I am staying at Wilderness Lodge (same class resort and prices the same). For about $99/night w/ tax. I would call back and ask to speak to Wednesday and see if she can't do better for you. I think it is a good start, but they can do better (IMHO)

Contact your travel agent now!!

I just called up Disney Travel myself and since I'm going through a travel agent Disney can't do anything for me. The person I talked to said that Disney will contact my travel agent instead of me. I'm using American Airlines Vacations. Disney will only contact those who have a reservation through Disney Travel.

If you are using a travel agent I suggest you get on their backs about this!! As far as I know they are the only ones who have control over your booking. I've already contacted AAVacations and they said to call them back by Friday!! I hope that's not too late to get a good upgrade, which I may not be able to since it's through a travel agent. That's ok because I'm perfectly fine with going to a comparable resort like PO or CS.

This is so much fun! :fork:

Normal value price of Savanna view is $259, so I'm happy. I said I could have got Standard view for $100, but I opted for the better view. Others can persue if they want, but a savings of $120 per night is fine by me.:sohappy:

I got an AP rate without buying an AP, that seems good to me.

Last year, when we were there in Dec. and part of Port Orleans was shut down, the displaced people got bumped up to AKL for free.

I talked to some of them on the buses. They were all pretty happy with the free upgrade and mentioned that on subsequent trips that they would probably stay at AKL again even though it was more $$$$.

I thought that was pretty shrewd strategy on Disney's part.

I guess it depends on what price you are locked in at also. I was at $90, so it would have been $10 more to go standard at AKL. Maybe they were at a higher price level so Disney switched them for nothing and it worked out better for everyone.

In February, we had reservations at Pop Century, which, of course, did not open then. We ended up getting a deluxe savannah view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge for about $130/night and those rooms are usually $459/night...I was quite pleased:)

We had a post card rate of $89 night with 4th night free providing we tour Disney Vacation Club and had reservations Oct 24-29.

Disney Vacation Club called today and only offered to swith to
another moderate at same price or Animal Kingdom Lodge or
Wilderness Lodge at $129 night before tax standard view.

Polynesian which I have seen others get at $20 more was not
available with this code, Tried to call CRO later after telling
DVC I needed to think, attempting to get a better deal and was told only DVC can change my reservation.

I went with Coronado Springs instead of paying $40 more a
night for AKL/WL. It is still a good deal at $75 a night after tax
for 4 nights with the free night averaged in.

I just wish I had a chance for Polynesian like I have seen others get.

I just got off the phone with Guest Services and this is what they did for me. I was planning a trip for October 11 -19 at CBR. I reserved two rooms, tickets, and travel insurance. Guest Services upgraded me to AKL for only an additional $281. That's for two rooms for 8 nights. It comes out to a little over $17 a night per room to upgrade. We couldn't be more happy! :sohappy:
