Sorry, can't help you with any of those. When we were in St. Maartin, my daughter was about 7 or 8, so we did the island bus tour and butterfly "refuge", or whatever it's called. :)

We did the St. Thomas Skyride on a Carnival cruise. It is a MUST do! The views are incredible. We did it on our own. Walked to it from the port, paid and went up. You can spend as much time as you want up there.

We did Magen's Bay that same day (gorgeous) and a catamaran cruise w/snorkel on our Disney cruise earlier this year (Champagne Cat, so much fun! Highly recommend)

In St. Maarten we took a cab to Dawn Beach which was nice but we wouldn't go again. Too many peddlers and the waves were rough (might have been the day, though).

Is it far from the ship to where the Skyride is???

Thats the one that looked the most interesting to me. And only $18....seems like a great time!

I saw the Butterfly Gardens on the St. Thomas list of excursions. Was it interesting?

Has anyone done any of the rainforest zip line tours in Puerto Rico?

How is the snorkeling on Castaway Cay? Do you see a lot of fish, coral, or Disney placed items?

I apologize for piling more questions onto your thread, crush dude!, but we're trying to figure out our eastern Caribbean port adventures, too.

When we did it, the first half of the excursion was a bus tour of the island. It was interesting to the adults and incredibly boring to the kids who wanted to see lots of butterflies. But the butterfly garden itself was very interesting, lots of fun. We have a great picture of my young daughter with a huge blue butterfly on her head. :)

Awesome. Beautiful. Gorgeous.

Do you see a lot of fish, coral, or Disney placed items?
Lots of fish, so close you try to reach out and touch them. Lots of Disney stuff to spot. And if you can't find that certain statue of a certain famous mouse, the lifeguards will point you to it, so you are sure to see it.

You know, now that I think about it, the "awesome, beautiful, gorgeous" qualities are probably somewhat dependent on the sea conditions. But on the 2 or 3 times that I've snorkeled at Castaway Cay, it's been fantastic.

I'm with Chuck. Castaway Cay snorkeling is some of my favorite snorkeling anywhere. Partly because I'm not secretly worried about getting eaten by a shark. :lookaroun

Here's some pics! There's tons more to see this is just a sampling.

Hey, thanks for the info and the pics, ChuckElias and Disneyfalcon! We are definitely up for the snorkeling at Castaway Cay, and it sounds like the Butterfly Garden is a good diversion, too.

Here's my daughter (8.5 years ago  ) at the butterfly farm, with a butterfly on her head. My wife is to the right. It's kind of hard to see the butterfly, sorry. Lousy photographer using a lousy camera. :o
