It is Levy Restaurants...I think they are trying to open Yak & Yeti prior to T-Rex coming into being....

The menu is not bad, but i'm not like, "Wow! I really want to go there!" It sounds like Rainforest Cafe, but, with dinosaurs. Do they have an asteroid crash into the restaurant every 30 minutes? That might be a little more tolerable than the screaming apes and elephants making noises all the time.

yes, there is. Are roaring dinosaurs every 30 minutes more or less annoying than screaming apes? hahaha

And yes, the food is a lot like Rainforest's--but Rainforest was never about the food. I've always found the food to be "just ok"; nothing to write home about. It's about the atmosphere, and T-Rex's atmosphere is cooler than Rainforest's.

I also have had a chance to get to one. The food is good, not great. The presentation and look of the food is amazing. But as we all know the atmosphere is the key. This is going to be a great addition to DTD. I can't wait to see it open, go to the host stand, find out that it's an hour and a half wait, and proceed to Earl of Sandwich. There's not much I would wait for that long. Rainforest out here during the day can have little wait and I think it's worth it then, but not if I had to wait that long.

We recently visited the T-Rex in Kansas City, and yes, the menu is just like Rainforest. Some menu items names have changed to fit the theming, but it is pretty much the same menu. The theming is very neat with the dinosaurs and all. It covers all the different dinosaur environs- ocean based, ice-age, etc... Our kids really enjoyed it, except they said it was really loud. The tables weren't as close together as they are at Rainforest, which is nice when you have multiple kids sitting in high chairs.

Don't count on that NOT happening witht he tables. I cana lmost gaurantee they'll try and cram as much as possible into whatever little space is given to them at T-Rex.

As for how it's going, I personally haven't heard much besides a "wait list a mile long" to work there (I currently work for Rainforest). I do know some big wigs are in town looking at our restauraunt to guage and get some info for Yak & Yeti.

T-Rex Cafe

Paul and I saw construction on the T-Rex Cafe last Friday night. I think the sign said that it was opening spring or summer of 2008. Deb

Hi Deb! Glad to see you made it over here to WDWMagic! Welcome! I called Sunday to get my ADR's for our April trip and asked about Trex and the lady said it wouldn't be open until Fall. Oh well, we'll be back next January so we'll try it then.
