Any word on Kingdom Hearts 2?

I really want to play Kingdom Hearts 2 but I haven't heard anything about in quite awhile. I finished the original Kingdom Hearts back in February and now that I have free time during the Memorial Day weekend, I decided to play it again until I get the Enter The Matrix game for my birthday on June 7th.

Anybody have any word what-so-ever?

Not a peep about the game so far beyond he "Deep Dive trailer". No one at Square said anything at E3 -- even when I asked behind closed doors -- and the only thing the Disney Interactive (or whatever they're calling themselves now) just said "It could happen."

I know for a fact that the director, and much of the development team, of the first one is busy with a different project right now and neither company wants to go ahead with the project until they're all free. He has always said in interviews that it would be sometime in 2004-05. Kingdom Hearts was in development for about 3-4 years (development started in 1999), so either way you've got a wait in front of you.

I'd guess the safe bet would be to say that you'll hear something about KH2 before the end of next year's E3.

UPDATE:

According to Square, the story and a few other issues have been worked out. They are waiting on final Disney license approval before they can enter production. This'll probably put the game Late 2004, early 2005 depending on how much work is already done on the game itself.

Again, probably won't hear much until next year's E3.

I recall reading somewhere when KH first came out that they were planning on producing a Kingdom Hearts TV show. The article didn't mention whether it would be a Japanese or American effort. Anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor?

It would actually be done up by Disney... so it would be stateside. And along with the cartoon series, there was also talk of doing a KH movie. Not quite sure where that one is right now nor the cartoon series.
But there was a lot of talk last year and it trickled into this year about both things being discussed within Disney...
