Sea World is offering one free day to active military and three family members. Any whisper of Disney or Universal kicking in a day or two as well?

Yes, when Seaworld announced their "free day" both Universal and Disney said to look for something similar to be offered by them in the very near future. Considering there is a hotel dedicated to the men, women and their families in the armed forces on Disney Property (Shades of Green: currently undergoing an expansion and I believe these "special guests" are being accomodated at the Contemporary), there will be some offer from Disney.

From that article:

"At Disney World, spokeswoman Marilyn Waters said, "You can expect us to announce a special offer for returning U.S. military soon."

I noticed it said until Veterans Day. This may mean that once again, many of the Army soldiers who are left behind to "stabilize" won't be included. My husband has orders for two years, and there's a good chance he won't be back from the Persian Gulf by this Veteran's Day. While I think this is a wonderful thing, I think that if they are going to extend it to those who served, it should apply to ALL who served there, and not just the ones who were sent home quickly.

Just my opinion...

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but here's how I feel about free Military personel passes.

When you join the military, you join with the understanding that you might go to war and you might have to fight and even possibly die. I was in the Army during the Viet Nam conflict and never once expected anyone to give me a free ride a free pass or a free anything. It was my JOB.

If you give free passes to the military you better also give them to the Firemen, Policemen, FBI, CIA, Department of Alcohol Tobacco and firearms and Department of Immigration. All of these agencys and their employees, just to name a few, help to keep our lives and our country safe. I think it's wrong to single out one group and give them perks. They all lay their lives on the line every day for this country and to single out just the military would be doing an injustice to the rest.

Hope I didn't offend anyone...that wasn't my purpose.

It's a good point though I think you have to keep in mind that they offer these discounts as an incentive to business as well as to benefit our armed forces. Right now they need to stimulate attendance so they are extending discounts. I know last time Disney did this (Jan to April of 2002) they did extend it to military dependents so that families could go even if the servicemember was deployed and unable to go which was nice. Also it's always possible to get a military discount, not as nice as a free ticket, of course, but every little bit helps!
