I've seen them at the bookstore and on the web. Are any of them any good? Do they have any info that cannot be gleaned by using the web and sites like this one?
Thank you~! Just got back from our first trip to WDW and we're already trying to figure out how we can get back next year!

I have quite a few of them and I'd say definetly pick up a couple. They each offer a different perspective. My favorites are: The Unofficial Guide to WDW, The Hidden Magic of WDW and Mousejunkies. Happy Reading!:)

imho, all the info you need is right here. If you pick up one of those guide books from 10 years ago it has the same info a modern one does. But, the childrens ones are really good while traveling because they have games and activities for the kids instead of, are we there yet?

The burnbhaums(sp?) is a real colorful one, plus its the only one officialy endorsed by Disney. It dosent have a whole lot of information compared to most but is a fun read. A lot of people on these boards like the Pass Porter. and I guess a couple thousand people cant be wrong. But, my absolute favorite with a good mix of colorful pictures, back storys and information has to be the Complete Walt Disney World.

Secrets with regarding to what?
Any of the Mouse Tales by David Koenig offer some juicy behind the scenes stories which may or may not be true.
The Imagineering field guides do offer tidbits and official insight into things, but it is the official spin, so has to be taken with a grain of salt.
The Hidden Mickey book shows many hidden mickeys, some official, some legitimate, and many that are just a stretch by any means. So not always my first choice for "secrets".
If you are looking for secrets to planning your vacation, the best resources are going to be the boards. Many of the books don't offer anything beyond what has already been posted here. The books like the Unofficial Guide and the Birnbaums official guide work well at providing information about the attractions that aren't always detailed on any web site. And the touring guides many be beneficial to you depending on your touring style.

IDK if it’s technically a “secrets” book but my favorite and the one I find most informative is the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Testa and Sehlinger. The book tells you literally everything about WDW. Very thick book. But has everything you want to know.

You can definitely find all the info on the boards - however - if you're looking for something to hold & read away from the computer I recommend going to your local library and cleaning out the Disney section - that way you get the info you need and can stash the $$ you save in your next vacation fund!

All that have been mentioned are great, and just browsing the threads here you will find hidden gems. I also subscribe to "Celebrations" magazine and it helps too! Guess I am old school, love to have something to flip pages!

Thank you~

You answered my question! I was interested in both trip planning secrets and park secrets like hidden mickeys. We just had our first family trip (first trip to WDW). My husband and I loved Disney movies anyway (his first love was Mary Poppins, mine was Bert :) but after going to WDW and staying in the park we are officially crazy about disney. It certainly made it more magical all the wonderful wonderful things that happened for our daughter. I just have to know everything now and we're already trying to find a way back next summer (we saved for this vacation for about 2 or so years and at 8 she believed in everything and well, we came to as well.) Thank you!

I highly recommend "the Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" by Susan Veness. It if full of "secret" things
to look for in the parks. It made me realize how highly Disney values DETAILS! It was so much fun
carrying it to the parks each day and looking for all of the "secrets"!
