I am asking for all your suggestions on how to actually take it all in while in the World. I notice that every trip to the World, I feel like I rush to get it all in and do not get a chance to really notice things! I want to get all your ideas on how to slow it all down...I want to get a chance to "see" all the nooks and crannies of my resort (Wilderness Lodge) and mainly the Magic Kingdom and Epcot...All ideas will be appreciated! Thanks!

The best thing you can do is accept the fact that you're never going to see it all, do it all, experience it all in one trip, no matter how many days you stay. So prioritize those things that are "must-do's", make a wishlist of things you'd hope to do, and don't worry about thiose things that you don't get to do. Save them for the next visit!

For years, I would wake up my family, early and I do mean EARLY and head out to start our day. The older our son was, the more this changed. We normally stay 7 - 14 days, so decided, every two days, we would take a *pool day*, relax at our resort's pool area, do breakfast (if not room service) at a Counter Service at our resort. Then relax til dinner time (if at Epcot, usually around 7pm). There is SO much to do, however, one day of just relaxation, really is a treat! Or .... make it an early night and do the reverse (eat at a quick service, explore your resort and get a good night's sleep) There's no wrong way to do Disney, but a day of relaxation, is a must do on our list. Have a great time!! :sohappy:

We've talked about taking it slow. We have sat on benches and people watched once in awhile. With the early hours and late hours it seems like we are always busy during the trip or tired at the end of the trip from trying to get everything in we want to do. We surely don't want to go home and say you know what we didn't do.

when we go in the fall/winter months (when the parks close a little earlier) we plan our dinners around 8-9pm that way we've spent our time in the park and can relax a little more not feeling like we've "wasted time". we also will sometimes get lunch at a quick service and sit where we can people watch or walk around with a hot dog from casey's to just take in main st. believe me i know that urge to go go go...we're always at the park by rope drop and are usually some of the last ones to leave at the end of emh, in fact we're so bad we know exactly how many what we call "mickey park minutes" each vacation has :brick:. i usually have to make sure i have one day off at home before i go back to work just to recover from my wdw vacations.

As others have said, just remember to have a seat, enjoy a treat and just sit and look around. Being on a forced march is no fun, sure you may see everything or ride it all, but that, I don't think, was Walt's intention. I sleep in a little, enjoy breakfast and see where the day takes me. No rushing...but time goes by fast, as it always does. This way when you leave you won't feel beat when you get home. Relaxing is something we should all do, although it can be difficult with so many stimulants around!

I find I need two things to slow down:

Plan it. I need to set aside a few hours, an afternoon, morning or evening, on which I plan no to do anything. That way, relaxing becomes the goal itself. Instead of 'not-quite-relaxing because of the nagging thought in the back of my head that I'm missing out by wasting valuable time'.

Secondly, don't relax an entire day. It is so much easier to just stop and smell the flowers when you plan on going to the park at six PM for dinner, a few rides, fireworks, EMH would be perfect. It is easy to just unwind for most of a day when you know that you will still get you high energy fix later that day, so you don;t feel you;re missing out.

Maybe a quick third tip: the goal of Disney vacation is not to see it all. It is to have a magical time. Sitting in a comfy chair with a fine drink and taking it all in IS the reason why you are there. That is the magical experience itself, not time wasted.

The first years we visited the parks we'd go for 5 days and over the years its grown until now when we go for 10 or more. The first few days we visit each park and do them in their entirety and then the rest of the time we do mainly our favorite attractions, bench sit more, slow down and enjoy the sites. We allow one day off in the middle to leave our room in the morning a little later, visit DTD, restock our sodas at Publix and have an early night in the room to begin the remainder of our vacation.

Beginning our last trip we take a day off in the middle of the trip. We don't go to the parks, we sleep in a bit, go on a fishing excursion, hit downtown Disney, eat a nice resort restaurant. We found it very relaxing and makes the rest of the trip more enjoyable.

For us, we like to do 7-day park hopper tickets. I find that's plenty of time to see everything we want to see.

This is what we did last time - One of the days in the middle we had a "rest" day. It's not really a day to rest though. We slept in. Ate breakfast at the hotel. Wandered around the resort and took a bunch of pictures. After that we swam. Then had a small lunch at the resort.

Then we went to Epcot in the evening for an ADR (Restaurant Marrakesh.) We were also able to go on a couple attractions and watch Illuminations that night.

So even though we were able to do quite a bit, it was still more of a relaxing day.
