Any ideas for my own Disney Room?

One idea i've been kicking around is to pick up a couple of the AE seats being offered by Mouse Surplus on Ebay and making office chairs out of them. I don't know how comfortable they'd be, but they're cheap enough that it's worth a try.

Can't remember if I read this idea or if someone gave it to me but awsome if you have little kids into buzz lightyear. Mousesurplus has the front shell of the ride vehicles for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. They suggested to convert the shell into a foot board for a single bed.

I'm trying to give my son's room a Wilderness Lodge feel. I've painted it Alligator Green (Benjamen Moore) and got a plaid check comforter kinda like a cabin look to it. I've got a navy blue solid curtain with pockets in it to fill with Disney beanies and I'm planning to put Wilderness Lodge pins on it. I'm hoping on our next trip to get some pic frames and the totem pole from the resort store and maybe some Brother bear stuff.

In my kids bath I've painted a sand color and my shower curtain has a beach scene on it and my accessories are beach themed. I got a Yacht Club Resort poster with Mickey and Minnie on ebay and Poly pic frame for a picture of my kids on the Poly beach. My favorite picture in there is by an artist, I believe named Doss who painted a beach scene with beach buckets with different Disney characters on them.

They are Disney, but not overwhelming Disney.

Don't forget you can change your door and blinds, too. I know the doors are available at Home Depot, but I can't remember about the blinds. Or, you can always do your own! Home Depot also has some ideas if you go to their paint department.

I have more than 20 wall clocks hanging in my office. I don't always have them running....imagine being alone in the house and all of a sudden, you hear the clocks. Loud, very loud.

Are you near a Wal*Mart or K-Mart? Look for advertising. I have several things that were given to me that no one seemed to ask for when the items they were advertising came out and they were going to get rid of the stuff. They just toss the stuff out. Never hurts to ask.

I agree with Mac's mom. Also, Home depot has Disney paints and all kinds of decor and ideas !!!

So here is the update. I have come to the conclusion that I will try and make it look like Mickey's Philharmagic waiting area. You know the deep blue/purple with the huge columns? I will also be adding the posters to the room like in the entrance to the first room. I have already ordered a couple different posters (mainly Mickey) but was having a heck of a time trying to find the right colors!!! I have seem to found the goldish color for the columns but can't find the right blue/purple. I looked at it for hours alongside a paint deck trying to match with no luck. Finally this morning I went to Lowes (because Home Depot was too far and their Disney colors weren't right) and talked to someone. He found me the Goldish with no problem but we could decided if the other color was purple or blue. We were about to give up until we matched something.....that common blue painter's tape? NO WAY!!! At first it looked like it might match with a couple heavy coats so the gentleman mixed it for me and I was on my way. So right now I have just painted one wall. IT IS THE WRONG COLOR!!!
So now I am going to take a shower and drive to Orlando and go take as many pics as I can before they close and hopefully find something I can take home to color match. Hopefully I get back in time to stop back at Lowes and fix this problem. I will update when I get back.

This takes a few steps, but it is worth it.

1) Book a trip to WDW, stay at your favorite resort.
2) Stay the whole trip.
3) On the last day, steal everything from the room.
4) Send the stolen goods back home.
5) Set up your new room.

that sounds like my last Disney vacation.

jk... maybe:p

Just got back and I was forced to purchase a Sourcerer Hat from Philhar to match the colors. After taking a million pics the only thing that seemed to help me out with the colors was the Hat. So anyway I will be taking it to Lowe's and have them try to color match it.
I will let you know tomorrow how evertything works out.

i would go to www.mousesurplus.com see if anything stries your fancy... pick maybe 1 item, and use that as your inspiration for the whole room.

also, another idea instead of using frames, and this works great in an office:
paint the walls with a magnetic primer (it basically makes your wall a giant magnet board allowing you to hang up as many things as you want). then, you could use chalkboard paint over that, and write your own captions, etc. it could be like a giant scrapbook of all your favorite disney things.... we did the magnet/chalkboard combo wall in our brainstorm lounge at work and it is great.... we just write on the walls anytime we have an idea!

I personally if I had a room for Disney, i would do either a black and white room with all diferent items that have little or no color in them. Or a room with all Disney cells in color.

Whatever you do, don't forget Hidden Mickeys.

Someday, I am going to buy 3 round mirrors and hang them as a Hidden Mickey.

That's funny that you say that. On our honeymoon in 2000, we noticed the 3 round Mickey mirrors in the hallway at Mickey's house in Toontown Fair, and decided we wanted to have those at our house. Well, we've been looking for 3 of the right size round mirrors for 5 yrs now, and just found some a couple weeks ago. We painted them red and they are now in a Mickey head shape in our hallway upstairs, and they look just like the ones at Mickey's house at WDW.

Well I have been trying to find the right colors and tried to match the Sourcerer hat. Nothing seems to come up. Mainly because there is a shimmery matalic look to it which is hard to mimic. BUt I ended up going all over town and went back to a friend at Sherwin Williams. He ended up just taking one look at the hat and added colors until it came out to what I am using now. It is damn near perfect.... minus the shimmer but not by much. As for Hidden Mickeys........I have painted over one and will paint over the other so you will have to find them

monorail

I haven't read all of these great ideas yet, so I don't know if anyone mentioned this. On the news one night, or maybe it was some program we were watching, a man had the monorail going around the room, up at the top near the ceiling. Wouldn't mind that myself.

I have a couple extra (empty) rooms in the house and was making one in to an office and was going to decorate it with Disney stuff. I have a couple things here and there like pictures and picture frames and figures..... but I am looking for some other ideas like paint schemes and creative ideas.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

My girlfriend just mentioned to me that in the Sarotoga Springs DVC Center the ceiling is painted with clouds of the Disney characters. THAT IS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR!!!
Talking figures now... Dollars... Doe... MONEY

How big is the budget....

I think I might do this in another room. But I wanna make sure to get all the miniture stops (Epcot, MK, Contemp, Poly, Etc) So I will need a little more room on the shelves for this. Plus I wanna keep this room looking as close to the Philharmagic as possible.
I will post more pics as soon as I am finished.
