Any DLR CMs around these parts?

If so, do you know what the hours for the parks will be in September post 9/9 (the last day listed on the website as of yesterday)?

I'm planning my annual fall visit and Disney seems to be playing keep away with the hours.

Wouldn't mind meeting up with some locals either depending on time and my ticket situation (The Spirit doesn't like to pay and has three days comped, but is looking for two more days!) in the parks or the resort area. ... Not sure exactly when just that I'll be around from about 9/11 to about 9/27.

Also, let's talk legit ... is Carthay Circle worth my time and money? I've heard some very mixed reviews from friends and thinking it may be a place for a beverage or two, but not a meal.

Comments? Thoughts?

I'm no longer a CM but I can tell you they're not given park hour information until the week of. CMs are given schedules each week that include park hours, times of shows, etc. At this time I doubt any CM would be able to give you the information you want. When I was working during last September, I remember DL closing at 12 and DCA closing at 10, now 11.

Nothing like getting in the parks for free. Been doing that all my life. Hopefully you can find someone to sign you in for the other two days. Let us (Disneylanders here) know if you want to meet up.

I haven't eaten there yet but I read positive review from Tom Bricker and I've read a few positive posts from TP as well. I'm planning on eating there ASAP. I've also heard from a numerous amount of people that the Snow White mural is a beauty to look at.

It's annoying, we're over there at that time too... We're coming from the UK and I always like to plan out our stay but without the hours I'm planning blind really...

I have last years hours if you like but with DCA upgrade I'm pretty sure they can be rendered useless.

Yes, but I would guess internally that they must have the hours up thru September somewhere? It seems they are holding back due to the start of Halloweentime. I'd also guess they're not sure whether to do the 10-8 weeknight closings of last year and how late (9, 10 or 11) to leave DCA open Friday-Sunday, so they're waiting ridiculously late.

That is true. I could do so in FL, but for some unknown reason (likely my own mental illness) I have bought an AP for 31 years and counting (to be fair, the first 10-12 years were paid for my by Spirited parents!) I did the AP at DLR until 2007 and have gotten comps or walked in since (except for one last minute visit for a day last December when I bit the bullet and paid $80). Looks like I'm set for three days now, so one more to go (although I'll take a fifth if anyone offers being the DLR that I am!)

As for meeting up, I'm open to that. I'm not nearly as scary as some people think ... feel free to drop me a PM and we can discuss as I get closer (likely heading out there either 9/9. 9/10 or 9/11 but no clue on my DLR days yet!)

Tom Bricker is a social media . You can't believe a word he sez.

(this is all sarcasm as I just sent him a note, but I do hope he drops in here! ... And, yes, I did read his review but it was one of the few positive ones).

Yes, I a lot about WDW playing fast and lose with the hours, but really this is even worse.

Six weeks out and you have no idea when the parks will open and close and what entertainment will be offered.
That's just very guest unfriendly. No excuses.

I'm sure certain cast members are given park hours ahead of time. People in attractions (where I was) always got them the week of, which sucked most of the time. I can try and ask my old DCP buddies that still work there if they know anything about those dates.

LMAO, that is the sole reason I have NEVER bought a DLR AP...yet at least. I think my sources are getting tired of signing me in. I've gotta break down and get myself in. I'm pretty sure the first and only time I paid to get into Disneyland was when I went to Grad Nite. Obviously there was no way around that.

I'd love to meet up with the other Californians here, including you Spirit. That time you described a normal day for the average Californian convinced me you too are a Californian. You're not scary at all, just truthful. I'll be visiting in October but I'll see. Hopefully the others will read this thread and would want to meet up.

LOL Tom is awesome. The negative reviews I've heard were mostly about the employees not having much experience. The reviews about the food have been positive.

My main complaint (as noted in my review) with Carthay Circle Restaurant (and lounge) was the service. Our servers did not meet my expectations for a restaurant of that caliber. We ate there the second night that the restaurant was open, so I was hopeful that this was an early kink that would be quickly worked out. I've since read other, more recent reviews that also discuss this issue, so it appears the problem has not been fixed. I've also ready others rave about the whole experience, so either they got one of the good servers who came from Napa Rose or Steakhouse 55, or they have different expectations than me.

Our food was amazing (I don't think I've seen any negative reviews regarding cuisine) and I'd eat there again solely on that basis. I'd also eat there at least once because the interior of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. As for overall experience (cuisine, service, ambiance, etc.), I don't think it's quite as good as Napa Rose.

I actually intended on having an AP forever. But when I went from bi-coastal back to Floridian alone in 2008, I didn't see the value. At the time I had a few friends working at the resort so getting in was never an issue. In recent times, they've left and I generally either have friends come down from Burbank or Glendale and spend a day or get comps from friends. I hate asking the friends who work up in the Valley because they have to arrange time off or I have to switch up days etc ... it becomes a pain, and I only want to be a pain to mindless fanbois who need to lose the Pixie Dust addiction:D.

But I definitely need to make some new front-line pals out there because I would really like to get in as much as possible when I am out there and free.

Oh, believe me, I am a Californian at heart. No doubt about it. I would trade Florida for it in a heartbeat. A few years back I went almost an entire year away and it really upset me. There's just something so much more liveable (and that is with all the traffic, congestion, people and crazies on both ends of the political spectrum) out there. I remember being in Rancho Palos Verdes a few years ago when a friend and I decided to not visit DLR on a 98-degree day and head for the coast. Just sitting on the patio of a Subway looking at the Pacific we saw a pod of whales swimming off-shore and it was just total bliss. You don't get that in Florida.

Anyway, hope we get a chance to meet next month. We could always do it at DD if you can't get in the parks or even elsewhere. Like I said, I'm still unsure on my DL dates and probably will be for the next 2-3 weeks.

I don't know.

I keep thinking Tom is simply average and married way out of his league!:D

I know I am going to go to CC ... the question really is whether it will be a full meal or not.

Napa Rose is one of the best restaurants in the OC. Period. And one of the best Disney dining experiences on the planet. There is nowhere (that incudes old Club 33, now taken over by every social media who can buy their way in ... no offense, Tom ... just speaking in general how the demos have changed there dramatically just in the last 6-7 years) in Anaheim that comes close to that level of dining.

Unfortunately, I won't be going this time due to budget cutbacks (yeah, even us Top 1%ers are struggling!) unless someone wants to take a Spirit to dinner (we have a program, but it is based in FL where it is fully endorsed by Governor Voldemort) and be regaled by all sorts of bizarre, amusing and scary stories.

Oh for sure. I'm sure by next week the dates should be out.

Yep, I feel you. My uncle usually gets me and my friends in and if there are more than 3 in the group, my uncle will ask his co-workers and then they'll have to schedule something and then I feel bad. They never complain and they don't mind doing it but I still feel bad for having them go through all of this just to get me and my friends in. Then again, when I was working at the park, I did take two busses to get my friend's friends in, whom I had never met before. I didn't mind one bit and I guess that's how my uncle feels. Find anyone who wouldn't mind doing it. You'll be happy when you save $125.

California definitely has its issues (taxes, anyone) but I love it for the scenery. One of the few places where you can go hiking, surfing, and snowboarding in one or two days. I'm scared of whales, though I've been whale watching. I'm scared but at the same time I like watching them. No whales in Florida? That seems odd. I've never been but I do hear about the alligators and the supposed sharks. I was shocked to hear Florida is flat with no mountains. I love mountains. I'm planning a trip to Florida, as soon as TDO gets better and puts some love into those parks.

Yeah I probably won't be able to go to Anaheim, since I'll be starting school soon (ugh). I'm in LA and I could always do something there or even close. Anaheim isn't very far but the bus ride there is long as heck! I'll start a thread and ask if the others want to meet up, and if so, where.

Yep. Thanks. They were up last week at some point as I saw them ... .... now, all I have to do is figure out what days I am going ... and find another comp for a sibling who has decided (after I got freebies from pals for my days) that he'd like to see DCA 2.0 too! ... Naturally!:)

Make sure to check out the ride closures list in the Disneyland forum, before you decide which days to go!

Thanks, already have.

Indy, Casey Jr. and Storybook Land are down my whole stay. That's pretty much it. I can deal!
